feminists (and male feminists) told everyone that wonder woman broke new ground and would pave the way for more female centric blockbusters in hollywood... that more people would rush out to see these movies.

wrinkle in time = brick

tomb raider = brick

it's almost as if wonder woman got by on brand recognition and wasn't indicative of anything culturally happening at all :ohhh:

Why does a brick or two have to mean that there isn't a cultural shift? Do men make every male-led blockbuster a success? Is The Mummy bombing last year mean that men aren't driving any box office success?

Why must we continue to discount international releases? The movie made 100 million total worldwide why does it Mayer which country that money came from? It all spends the same so all in all this movie was a success. A wrinkle in time has such a small target audience it was impossible for that movie to make any really noise.

you can't discount international money, but it's troubling that the new business model is having to "open" a movie worldwide b/c with all due respect Asian countries like really shytty movies. they flock to the worst of the worst popcorn flick style blockbusters.

no I’m saying it doesn’t matter who the fukk is behind or in front of the camera. a good movie with good marketing and good performances is going to make money.

when WW came out so many people tried to make it more than it was. it wasn’t evidence of a cultural shift, it was a bunch of people turning out to see a popular movie based on a popular icon. it didn’t mean that moving forward there would be MORE demand for MORE female led blockbusters. nobody gives a shyt.

as plainly evidenced by a flop in time and flop raider

No, but it proved those vehicles COULD be hits, which is the point. Not that they all would be lol.

Solid 3/5.
The film is at its best when pulls from the reboot. Fun experience.

-Horrible editing and pacing
-The flashbacks color hue changing was annoying
-The filmmakers really couldn't make any meaningful original content
- No magic.
-Color Saturation is all over the place.
-Somehow created worse side character than the game did. No fukking lie.
-Film wasn't organically cut together. Feels like a series of video game cutscenes.
-Score Bleh
-Villain and Alica where great actors, but dull script. Really fun set pieces, tho. Good popcorn experience. Make up was awful in this film too.

This has the makings of being easily the GOAT video game film and the crazy thing is that's probably still is.

With a better script, CGI, and editing...:wow:

Could of been something special because the cast was on point.

it didn’t prove anything, everyone already knew that.

WW was not the first female superhero movie... or the first female action movie. it wasn’t the first anything.

granted it was the first to be helmed by a female director (if I’m not mistaken) but that really had no effect on the box office draw.

You can’t say that, these studios don’t care which demographic likes a movie. They only care that it’s liked. And let’s stop acting like China is the only foreign market. No matter how you look at it this movie didn’t brick or whatever.

Loved the movie.

Only thing I didn't like is her going to rescue her dad with only a little money and no help.

But it's a videogame movie. I expected it.
