Gave the 1st episode a try and that shyt was boring as fukk. Definitely didn't grab me and make me wanna see more. shyt is filmed like those hype williams rap videos from back in the day so it looks good, but the pacing is so slow, it does a bad job of making you give a damn about what's going on.

even Yellow Jackets was more interesting to me than this.

Thats just nitpicking a lot of shows/movies do that. The Great Gatsby had a full jayz soundtrack, Peaky Blinders theme song is from a modern band , Rick Ross song in Django. If the song fits the energy of a scene it doesn’t matter when it came out.

They had a song 12 years in the future in the club, the others you mentioned were music thats implied like its played at the time in a place, just music inspired by

Its a slow burner. Crime isn't the same in Japan as here. The criminal underworld is like an onion. Peel back enough layers though and you'll be crying. The Yakuza has links to the Emperor. Kind of like modern day Shoguns, but very hush hush.

Just finished episode 5, I wanna like this show more than I do..Feel like they diluted this a lot with some of the storylines to make it more appealing to the masses.

My nikka, I get all that. This shyt aint the first Yakuza shyt I've seen. I'm familiar with slow burns, thats why I mentioned Yellow Jackets because that show did a better job of getting you hooked during their first episode.

This shyt was boring to me. I might give it another chance and watch the 2nd episode or I might not. :manny:

I know its not what ppl here for but I liked seeing her backstory and I think it fits into a larger theme/idea about the show. Ppl choosing their own destiny and changing. Jake is doing that and even Sato. Sato used to be a broke fisherman and basically stated he been sturggling with that aggro yakuza lifestyle. Show escalating and everyone doubling down on their choices though.

Damn, some of y'all hating hard as f*ck lol. The show is a slow burn but it's good. It has picked up a bit the past couple episodes.

Also, everybody and their mama smokes cigarettes in this show :russ:

I looked it up, around this time in Japan, 50% of Japanese men smoked regularly. That's crazy :ninja2:

Only on ep. 2 and when this fool raised his camera when old boy was about to get his forehead split :damn:

When the loud ass shutter went off :dead:

Definitely a slow burn, but I’ve always been interested in the culture so I’m locked in.
