That's not true. It's an ongoing series. But HBO has to decide if it renews it or not.
The series seems like a ratings hit for HBO MAX and is getting great reviews, so I figure HBO MAX will renew it.

To be fair, he was clowned on hard the last 2 episodes.
It has since the past few episodes.
However, it's a crime drama series and not an "action" series. So, yeah, take that for what you will.
This is near brilliant television, and such a contrast to the generic, worst of streaming's last few years,
it has such texture, and aesthetic shimmer, immersive, reminds me of the way Mann shot Blackhat in China, you can smell and taste the food, feel the energy on the back corners.

It’s one of the most in demand new shows on any streaming platform so season 2 is coming even if it wasn’t plannedEpisodes 6 & 7 were good. Samantha's ass is trifling
Show Kasamatsu (Sato's actor) needs to get more Hollywood gigs. He's the real deal.
Next episode is the last episode. There's no way that all of this is going to be resolved in that episode. There has to be season 2, right?

This doesn't make the soundtrack? One of the better montages I can remember over last few years.
After watching the scenes a few times, there is a lot of foreshadowing in the way Kume looks at his Oyubun.

The japanese cast really killing it tbh. Even the vice cop who did a great job playing a likeable a$$hole
that i honestly didn't see him working for Tozawa coming. I actually believed whim when he told Adelstein to be careful with Katagiri because he's a lone wolf
Also fwiw in terms of renewal, the book Adelstein wrote came out in late 00s like 08/09 iirc and this season if we include the flash forward at the start only covers like 98-2000. He's still in Japan, still writes and blogs and has kids now.
