you're fukking drunk if you dont think Freddie, Curren$y and Kendrick arent great. you dont even have to like them, just respect the fact that all they do is drop fukkin heat, and have the reception to back it up. there are hella people that drop shyt i know is great, but i dont fukk with, but even i respect the fact they are legit good. grow up and accept that shyt, because what you're doing is just childish.

You sound like a follower, breh. Most people are followers so I don't hold it against you.
But me, personally, I'm not the type to praise an artist just because a lot of other people think he's dope.

If you're implying to "great" such as Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Jay, Geto Boys, Bone Thugs, Wu Tang, Mobb Deep, Dmx, Snoop, OutKast, Ice Cube, etc. then I completely agree.

However, to compare artist of today to artist back then is kinda unfair because the whole dynamic of hip hop has shifted dramatically. These days you can't be introspective, gangsta, and carefree you have to be either strictly turn up or trapped out or simpish there's really no room for an artist to be well rounded because fans will complain and knock them for trying to "please everyone" so to speak.

I still think there are good artist in today's era but like most have said they're pretty much in the underground/independent scene but at the end of the day it all boils down to finding artist that fit the mold of what you would consider "great"

I thought this nikka got banned?

So if there are no new great rappers

Who was the last great rapper? :ld:

good question. In terms of when they debuted, cats who can actually flow, have great voices AND say sharp, unique shyt... Mos Def?

Who right now is doing a track like "Mathematics" or "New World Water"? Over a gutter Premo/Juju beat and making it sound dope? Not some Jedi Mind tricks boring shyt. and then also doing dope storytelling party joints like "Ms Fat Booty?"

It's hard to say. I wanna say DOOM because of when Madvillainy came out, but DOOM is a 90s cat.

I agree with the OP... There arent any standouts ... except for a few... and what I'm saying is what made Nas, Biggie, Mobb Deep, Mos Def, De La ..etc... stand out from the rest of the other rappers in the 90s... First of all .. it took a semi " stand out" to even get signed.. so half the battle was getting in the door for a meeting.... Today's rappers can do a quick song in 10 minutes throw it online and they done... there's no critique .. nothing ... and then when you try to give criticism they say you hating...

Every 30 minutes when that I'm blessed is on the radio... I know its 3 artists but i cant tell who's who... the sound the same... Kendrick, Lupe, Tyler, Earl, Roc, Action ... being different and being yourself will get you a lot further than you think in this game...

I feel like what happened was, with all the music and genres and artists available, the industry mostly promotes the most sterile and one dimensional songs/artist so they can bank on people getting their "rap fill" (whether it be conscious or party music) before switching back to the other music they like
