I'm not even sure what new generation definition is exactly. If Fashawn counts he's another 1 I could see being great. Maya Miko too, I bought his album last week and that shyt was very dope and enjoyable. A quality commercial release with skill and content, breathe of fresh air. Would recommend that. Again don't know people's ages but I like some of Blu's work also. I think there's a lot of talent out there, the wack ones are in a more visible position though (for the most part). But in general there will be a rise and shifts, always is. I will wait and see how people's music pans out in the long run, I'm confident there will be upcoming rappers that end up eventually being great over time.

Stop crying.

Obviously this is all my opinion. I'm a poster on a forum just like you.

Sensitive, mediocre nikkas like you always deflect and are obsessed with "my right to say something" as opposed to "let's debate his actual argument".

a) I don't give a fukk about how unpopular my opinions are
b) maybe if your generation's rappers had more balls to be themselves and risk being unpopular, this game would be fixed OVERNIGHT
c) You're incorrect because people fukk with my opinion. Check below.

I've never heard a mindblowing rhyme from either of them nikkas. Can you post one or two mindblowing lines from each?

man, you the one who should STOP CRYING.

Always ranting about how music sucks and shyt with a fukkin asap rocky avi :laff:

Great by what standards? The systems? The same system that funded the Harlem Rennisance? The majority of The Civil Rights Movement? The Ferguson protests?

So many great indie acts currently during their thing it would be a crime to make such a statement.

It's actually disrespectful and you should be ashamed of yourself. Stop letting the system dictate what's great and go seek some of these indie acts

Freddie Gibbs is great
Curren$y is great
kendrick is great
Wale is great
Lupe is fukking amazing
Travis Scott is amazing

Stop it with this shyt.

None of those rappers are "great" by any respectable standard

:flabbynsick: Y'all nikkas starting to sound like caricatures. Shouldn't you be telling some kids to get off your lawn?

Its a fact that hip hop has been in a major decline year over year. It has nothing to do with being old, it's those that lived thru it can see what it is.

These kids are coming up on Young Thug, he's was the hottest thing out last year. He's so fukking terrible and yall swear he's nice.

I came up on the chronic, doggystyle, Illmatic, ready to die, tribe called quest. Do I need to keep going?

You actually think that the hottest act in 2014/2015 is better?

I might be flabby n sick, but at least I don't have God awful taste in music and can clearly see what's going on.

The focus has gone from lyrics to sonics and flow

Aren't Lil B and Rocky part of today's generation ?

People will always sh!t on the current artists of their era, happened in the 90s, happened in the 80s

Nobody appreciates them until it's 10-20 years after the fact.

No. the focus is on being fukking mediocre and generic so that you can relate to other generic/mediocre people.

When it comes to flow, atmosphere and sonics, 90s rap is still so far ahead of today's generation in terms of creativity. Yeah, y'all got better equipment and 'mixing' I guess, but most of y'all aren't doing anything mindblowing in the sonics department that makes me go "wow, this is so hip hop but in a different world." Not even close. Your shyt basically sounds like disposable ghetto pop techno.

You think Young Thug, YG, Future, Drake, etc are good sonics? To me, that stuff is straight garbage.

Here's the thing though: I understand your point because it's the reason I listen to Lil B and Rocky, especially Rocky. Y'all really think I'm sitting there rewinding Rocky's rhymes? :russ: I already know his shyt is hollow. I've said this a million times. But sensitive nikkas always neglect that part and rush to call me 'stan' when they feel threatened.

I LOVE Rocky's sonics/flow. Same with Lil B. Because that cloud rap shyt is unique as hell to me and it fits my personality. I'm not out here trying to convince you that their rhymes are amazing.

If cats said, "yo, I love Kendrick's sonics. I fukk with his vibe." I wouldn't have an issue with it. Some people like that Atliens/Aquemini sounding shyt. It speaks to them, and I completely respect that. In fact, the only older rap fans I know that fukk with K Dot are major Andre 3000 fans. They like the fact that Kendrick reminds them of Outkast.

But don't tell me that Kendrick has these next-level rhymes, he's GOAT material and that anyone who doesn't see this is stupid. That's just insulting.

You're not fooling anyone. nikkas know.

Shut the fukk up, nikkas are OKAY... Tupac was GREAT, RUN DMC was GREAT, KRS ONE and PUBLIC ENEMEY was GREAT, Jay-Z was GREAT.
These nikkas aren't GREAT.

As far as technique punch lines story telling & song making all those names dude mentioned is on par with them guys.

The difference is those guys are far more influential & are global icons & their music will live on forever no matter the generation.

It's hard to look at this new crop of mc's & cherish them no matter how good they are.
