So God was really saving those people that had to jump to their death from the towers on 9/11 :ohhh:

"Don't worry about losing your husband/brother/father/whatever, and having your family heartbroken and torn apart, he's been saved!" :heh:

Get religious brehs

:ohhh: i guess it was sciences fault since the engineers didn't build a building that could withstand a plane crashing into it , i mean we should have faith a building at the very least doesn't collapse on us, while were in it right :shaq2: science didn't love them huh

again the OP gave a very simple example of what having faith in something can do and all yall can do is come up with the most extreme example talkin bout

""yo what if a baby gets run over and dragged by bus , and them the terrorist launch a nuke at the bus, which hits box full kitten sending kitten flying everywhere and ten thousand Haitian women all starve to death cause it , causing the Carriebean ocean to be dry and um making mars fall out the sky"

:wtb: where was your god them

Um, my "extreme example" actually happened...and was a reply to you saying that maybe God lets people die because he's actually saving them. Your reply here? Pure rubbish.

I didn't read through this thread, and this might have been pointed out, but I thought it was interesting that the OP wanted to highlight that he didn't pray for better traffic. Rather, he prayed that God would show him the right path or something like that. It seems to me that OP presented a condition in which "God" could not lose. Say he was late, didn't get either those jobs, and had to settle at some shytty job that maybe he's overqualified for to live. ANY positive outcome, no matter how minute, would probably be seen as a blessing to the OP. Maybe he's meets his future wife while cleaning toilets at McDonald's. Praise Jesus! Literally a million different outcomes could have happened, and as long as he saw anything positive, the OP would have probably came to the same conclusion.

That's why I take personal revelation with a grain of salt, because if you're actively looking to confirm your theistic belief, whether consciously or not, you've already biased the outcome.

Get outta here with all that logic n common sense bullshyt... this is about God and his blessings... :troll:

had no idea Catholic meant universal. Thats some deep shyt that you need to dig for to find, strange its not more common knowledge. As for the OP congrats on the job no hate homie, but seriously I hate the prayer gambit. It literally cannot fail under any circumstances. Didn't get the job---gods plan. got the plan----praise jesus :lawd:

Its dumb. give yourself some credit my nikka. I hate seeing people thanking god for them passing an exam or something when I personally saw them studying for hours to prep.

This is a subforum to discuss differences in philosophical viewpoints and stances.

Is that this hard for some of you to understand, including the mod?

There are plenty of Christian only boards on the internet where he would have received only praise for this revelation. This isn't a Christian board.

Reading through this thread, most people here are not even approaching him in a negative light for believing in God, at least not me.

I am merely pointing out the kind of qualities he is assigning his version of God. He's describing a God that rewards his selfishness, but this is quite common of a lot of Christians. Think about what he is saying about his God: he will answer prayers for employment but not for child being gassed and or burned alive.

What he is basically attributing to the supreme being is that once in a while this being decides to play JobBuilder.com

shyt is pathetic.

The problem is here its not merely a discussion. Yall piled up on ol boy for his faith. If its truly pathetic, you coulda kept it moving. But no, you wanted to point and laugh because YOU dont agree with what he thinks. Thats the problem with those of you who dont believe in God or a higher entity, yall look down your nose at those who do.

Calling him pathetic is not negative light?

Stop it breh. Dont try to play the higher road now.

I wasn't trying to flame the OP I just found it insulting to think that God cleared traffic for this dude to get a job but won't help people with greater need. Also me and TUH were making valid points were we not? Lets focus on the logical statements that we made and attack those points. You can't because we're correct. If he wouldve posted this in the locker room I wouldn't had even posted but this is higher learning where we debate and discuss. The original poster knew exaactly what he was doing posting in here.

Its still TBM all day tho :salute:

You my nikka breh, but you were a bit out of line imo. Like i said to TUH, there really was no reason for piling up on dude.

Like I said a few posts back, some may call it luck, but in reality its really unexplainable the way things happen the way they do. Some try to justify it by luck, or chance, and some by faith.

I just like shytting on people from time to time :yeshrug:, but at least I backed it up with logic :patrice:

but like I said, if he hadn't posted this in higher learning where we intellectually discuss ideas he wouldn't had caught the beats like he did. The Truth hurts.

I actually thought religious folks would also be insulted by his ideas, I genuinely wonder if I and TUH were both Christian how it would've altered the perception of our arguments because after we make a post it instantly becomes religion vs atheists which isn't what our message was, we were logically picking apart how his ideas HAVE to be wrong (or at least lead to an immoral characterization of God), since this is higher learning and all.

I still haven't seen anyone refute our points, we just have a few people calling us mean.

No, we challenged his logic and cognitive dissonance. He hasn't been able to counter this challenge. I understand, you religious people think the world should bend at the knee because of your beliefs, and when you are challenged on it, you don't know how to act. Go to ChristianMingle.com with that shyt.

I believe there is a higher entity. Now what? Plenty of theists, including Christians, think that selfish prayer and it being answered is WRONG. It assigns morality to their creator which puts him a negative light entirely. But I'm pretty sure you probably pray for selfish reasons all the time, so you think it's okay.

Calling him pathetic is not negative light?

His logic is pathetic. His argument even more so.

Stop it breh. Dont try to play the higher road now.

Like I said, when people challenge your faith, you think the world needs to crumble. Miss me with that. Everyone congratulated the man in an earnest fashion from the get go.

What facts though? There are no explanation for the way things happen though, thats why people turn to religion.

All im saying is, debates are cool, but for dudes to run around and insult OPs intelligence for being religious is ridiculous. It instantly turns it into an Atheist vs Religion flame war whether that was your intention or not breh.

Why does it bother non believers that there are people who hold on to "ancient" beliefs etc? I really dont understand. Maybe you and/or @Type Username Here can weigh in without coming off as arrogant dikks no offense to either of yall but thats the perception in this thread.

You must have missed the part where I said im not overly religious. You got so excited and ready to roast someone that you missed out on some precious logic. Using that same logic, you coulda took your short sighted views to atheistchat.net or some stupid shyt like that. You see how this works both ways?

His logic isnt pathetic, those are his views. Whats pathetic is that youre a grown man breaking down another grown mans post in order to discredit him.
