Penny's reign may have been shorter, but I think overall, he was a tougher match up/ more effective player than Tim Hardaway. If it wasn't for injuries, we wouldn't even be having this conversation right now.Penny was by far the better prospect.

It's like comparing Biggie(Penny) to Guru(Tim)

Guru is dope and had a longer run, but BIG was wayyyyy more prolific during his time.

I normally ride for Tim Hardaway, but like I said, if they were both able to stay injury free, and max out their potential, it would be Penny>>>>>Tim

and it wouldn't even be close IMO.Tim was never a 1st tier/ franchise player type prospect....I'd put him more on that Chauncey Billups/ Sam Cassell level in terms of historical context. He had some good assist numbers during the DMC days, but Iverson could've averaged 10 apg playing on those teams.

He got a lot of residual assist, but he never was a "pure" pg IMO.

He was super fun to watch, though. He's underrated when it comes to entertainment value. Those rainbow 3's he used to launch when he caught fire:ohmy::ohmy:

I think a lot of ya'll are letting the doll

cloud ya'll judgement. even penny's assist #'s aren't mind blowing. and that's even in his BEST years when he had the likes of a young :shaq:, dennis scott, and nick anderson to feed the ball to.

My brother's keeper
Man now when I think of Penny, I remember him on the Heat executing the slowest crossover ever, I had no idea what he was doing and @theoretic pointed out it was a crossover.

while i disagree with Penny being overrated Mitch was mos def underrated and should get his props

like you said he most played on bad Kings teams and Penny was always playing in big games during his Magic days

and i also believe his sneaker line with nike also plays a role with him gettin more fame than Tim and Mitch

Penny line one of the best lines in Nike :lawd: air max penny 1

^Yeah his kicks were hot.

:childplease:
Penny was all NBA his second year in the league. Mitch was nice but he was NOT better than Penny.
^What?

Mitchell > Penny

It "seems" like Mitch wasn't as nice because he played on garbage kings and wizards teams. But he was def a better player than Penny.

Mitch's
3X All NBA 2nd team
2X All NBA 3rd Team
>>>>>>>>>>>>
Penny's
2X All NBA 1st team
1X All NBA 3rd team.

Even MJ said Mitch was the hardest person to guard on numerous occasions.
ESPN.com: GEN - As sun sets on his career, Mitch goes West again

Penny's lucky he was on a nice Orlando team that also had the #1 pick of 1992. That helped dude a lot. Mitch didn't have that but was still able to made all NBA teams on 5 occasions (compared to Penny's 3), put up better numbers, make more all star teams, earn rookie of the year, get his jersey retired etc. Don't be fooled by the Penny hype. He was nice, but not THAT nice. Grant Hill > Penny..... Mitch >> Penny.

Penny Hardaway in his prime could take on any 5 HOF players you pick on a squad and beat them on his own.

I would take Allen Houston over Penny. Penny was soooooo overhyped it ain't funny, a lot of yall nikkas just remember that he was prettyboy with endorsements and cool shoes. He wasn't that good.
