Just how I feel intuitively.

Putting the NBA in juxtaposition with the rap game and ranking players by gut feeling/ where they stand in historical context.

In the grand scheme of things, I think Tim would rank similar to how Guru would rank in rap......Maybe top 100 of all time.

Whereas I felt Penny, barring injury, had the potential to be a top 20 player of all time.
nikka, Tim Hardaway was one of the BEST point guards in the league, and rising, before he tore his ACL. Dude had a career altering injury. Tim was on a HOF path before that.

People are too busy propping up Penny and ignoring that Tim was on that path as well. Guru aint even a top 100 rapper.

Penny could have been an all time great, but the sleeping on Tim Hardaway and comparing him to fukking Guru. :scusthov:

You cant rank dude off "potential". I guess Earl Manigault is top 20 of all time too? You rank dudes off of what actually happend, not "what if's" which doesnt make sense since no one here has a crystal ball. Ranking dudes off potential is crazy bro. Tim was that dude. Penny was on the come up, but didnt live up to it... and because he became injury prone, he still gets a high ranking? SMH...

and lol @ guru.

The whole convo started as a what if.If I were to rate them right now, TECHNICALLY, I'd rate Tim Hardaway ahead of Penny.

I'm just saying Tim wasn't a 1st tier/franchise caliber player.He was a lil guy with a hellafied offensive game.

Penny was the better talent.Even though he never came close to maxing out his potential. As a basketball prospect, he literally and figuratively dwarfs Tim Hardaway in every aspect of the game IMO.

I'd never rank Earl Manigault anywhere. He never had a NBA career, so he never got the chance to prove he could do it at that level.I only speak on dudes I saw play at a high level during their NBA careers

Tim is one of the best pg's off all time.Like I told dude in my last post, technically, he ranks ahead of Penny on any all time list.

all I'm saying is, in terms of measurables and natural talent, Penny is the better prospect. He was on his way to proving it, but injuries ethered his career.

I'd say the same thing about Grant Hill.Technically, Tim Hardaway would rank ahead of him, but you and I know Grant was the better overall talent.

And it's not like I'm basing it totally on potential.Even in the infantile stage of their NBA careers, Penny and Grant were making All NBA 1ST Teams.

I've seen all these dudes play, so it's hard for me to call Tim a better player than those guys.He was dope, but he was never "the man/face of the NBA" type caliber like Grant Hill and Penny were back then.

But career and stat wise, he ranks ahead of them dudes

I agree with that and said it earlier, my issue isnt talking about talent levels but instead shytting on Tim Hardaway by comparing him to fukking Guru. You, and others, are fronting like Tim wasnt on a HOF path himself. Or that he also wasnt making All NBA teams himself in the early 90s.

Tim Hardaway was on the path to being an all time point guard before he blew his own knee out.

You guys prop up Penny because of his potential but ignore Tim Hardaway's potential. It makes no sense.

Ya'll suck his dikk too hard for a dude that had 3 good years..

He's like a ghetto streetball legend that never made it but was better then anybody in the NBA to you nikkas.

when penny was playing he was just as good as anyone in the league before the injuries

im a big fan of both players growing up

i havent seen any threads about penny being top 10 all-time or Penny the GOAT anywhere

so im just wondering where did this come from

On SOHH the Penny knobslobbing was legendary.

And Penny was not the PG that Tim was. I'm sorry.

I always thought they forced Penny to play point but he wasn't a true point to me.

Tim Hardaway was givin you 20ppg and 10apg in multiple seasons..

Tim Hardaway was not to be fukked with.

Penny is one of the most overrated dudes of the 90's. It's sad that dude gets so much praise while he only poppin for like 3-4 years...while someone like Mitch Richmond was nicer but didn't get any shine (mainly because he played on scrub teams).

while i disagree with Penny being overrated Mitch was mos def underrated and should get his props

like you said he most played on bad Kings teams and Penny was always playing in big games during his Magic days

and i also believe his sneaker line with nike also plays a role with him gettin more fame than Tim and Mitch

Penny line one of the best lines in Nike :lawd: air max penny 1

and comparing tim hardaway to sam cassell & them is a slight as well.

i do agree with the tim/guru comparison. just not the top 100 thing.
