Need to ban onlyfans before anything else
Onlyfans is a far safer option for sex works and far more empowering for labor.

Porn studios, strip clubs and other various methods of sex work have entirely too much risk involved and have shown themselves to be predatory time and time again.

The hatred for Onlyfans is completely nonsensical, and just looks like your typical misogynistic take of hating anything that gives womens some kind of control over their lives

Ppl can say this isn't a big deal, but fact is that facebook is allowed to have groups that push Maga conspiracy theories and far rigjt agendas and nobody is banning that.

Banning TikTok is a cover up for something.
You see it, I know the pro Palestinian stuff on Tik Tok have pissed of conservatives and libs to no end (the IDF has no control over how Tik Tok works but can get our media companies to do whatever the fukk they want on a whim). Weird how anytime liberals get pushback on their more nefarious policy positions that mask slips and suddenly they're perfectly fine doing fascist shyt with the party they claim is a danger to American democracy.

They've convinced a solid part of the country that an Anti War/Anti genocide position is somehow far right and fascist... This is because of course most Americans are stupid as fukk and don't remotely understand how political ideology works and the far right and liberals know this.

What you're not understanding is they will come for Instagram (or a portion of it) next. Or they'll regulate some part of it.

They've already got this TikTok ban in the works, several states have already banned pron online unless you provide your drivers license. They're going to keep pushing your humam rights away

More pushback for a social media site that even the Chinese nikka running said the algorithm is different in his country
And his own kids don’t use it
Meanwhile black folks stay getting killed by police
Redlined out of communities they grew up in due to others and gentrification
American education system in the toilet and teachers saying fukk that
Abortion rights
Voting rights getting repealed
Inflation and stagnant wages
Homeownership turning into a game of Monopoly
Global warming and failing infrastructure
No let’s save a site that pushes gender wars and women crying to no end about being single
For every 10 videos of education and positivity
It’s a 100 of bullshyt
Like someone said early
Americans are stupid stupid

can you cite where he said the algorithm is different?

I was always under the impression tiktoks algorithm was made to find similar content according to users interests. if you're alluding to the content they display in china being different from whats displayed in the U.S then that can be attributed to the laws of the land which has the same content rules for all online platforms. tiktok/douyin isn't teh only short-form video social media site in china, they're just one of the most successful ones.

the content you deride being on tiktok is present on every other social media site in america. most people aren't trying to save tiktok so much as opposing the legal framework they're using to ban it. I support would legislators creating a comprehensive data privacy bill that applies to all companies and their users.

the market has decided which product/service they prefer and the powers that be are hypocritically changing their tune when another party does exactly what they do. why won't they charge tiktok execs with a crime?

the market made their choice and as someone who isn't a registered user of instagram or tiktok, i can view hundreds of comments on a tiktok video without needing to register with the site unlike instagram, I can view hundreds of videos without needing to register to teh site unlike instagram which throws up a signup page after you view 4-8 videos without an account within a certain 1-3 hour time frame. I can search tiktok videos without an account which isn't possible with instagram if you're not registered. tiktok is just way more accessible to the general public than Instagram is especially when you're sharing links.
tiktoks content policy is more favorable to a many types of content creators than Instagram is. some people aren't just looking for funny comments. i've seen good tool, books, and movie recommendations in tiktok comments. theres a lot of progressive activism on tiktok as well and I can't really speak on instagram since i'm not a registered member to know types of communities thrive there but i never heard of any sort of community like that on there.

reels is just a copy of tiktok with a poorer algorithm, users are sticking with the originator and innovator.

I don't see how they get upset and claim that foreign governments are stealing data when the US government and hackers are likely doing just that. Any time I get a notification of a data breach somewhere I don't automatically assume it's the Chinese. Besides who knows what data is being shared on any app or website including the coli. We can all just assume that our into is safe and not to share any vital information. The problem with tiktok is the easily accessible array of information especially ones that don't fit the government narrative for either side. It's not biased state controlled media and actual real people in real situations. I've come across plenty of instances on there where people are live streaming direct from the action whether it be a war/conflict, a natural disaster, a protest, etc. Not some reporter saying what the gov or media wants people to think. They hate seeing the truth instead of the narrative. The Israel/Palestine conflict may def be one of the causes they want to ban it. They have tried to indoctrinate in our minds that all Muslims are evil, especially post 9/11, when there are plenty of instances of Jews hating Christians especially out there in Israel. Plus going on a religious standpoint, I think the Muslims are more towards the side of Christians than the Jews are anyway but I'm no expert on religion or anything. It's just a matter of control and being afraid that people are hearing the truth vs what they want to tell us.

Well in my opinion, if this is about the small hats having an issue with what folks are saying and showing om there. And also Biden saying he will sign it, 80% chance this happens.
Big money involved with this...

When YouTube became popular, people began turning to it for reviews, tutorials, and more -- instead of a typical search engine. Similarly, more and more Americans, including myself, are using TikTok as a search engine.

According to an Adobe report, over two in five Americans use TikTok as a search engine, with one in 10 Gen Zers relying on it more than Google.

Also: Some Fire TV users can now simply ask Alexa to create AI-generated images

When TikTok first launched, it was mainly a vertical video entertainment app where people posted dancing videos, skits, and trends. However, with time, it evolved into a platform where people share everything from candid reviews to favorite recipes and more, all in short video form.

For that reason, if you need information on something fast, searching on TikTok often can be the most efficient alternative because you can get the information you were looking for in a bite-sized morsel with some personality.

Moreover, when asked why consumers used TikTok instead of traditional search engines, 44% said the short video format is more informative and digestible, 34% said they enjoyed the storytelling aspect of TikTok videos, 31% said the content is more personalized, and 29% said the information is more current.

In particular, when using TikTok as a search engine, 36% of users have looked for new recipes, 35% for new music, 34% for DIY tips, 30% for fashion advice, 29% for workout routines and beauty advice, and 26% for product recommendations.

Despite its popularity, TikTok still trails behind Google, YouTube, and Bing as the platform consumers find the most useful when looking for information.

If you want to try it for yourself, all you have to do is enter -- in your TikTok search bar -- the term you want more information about, and the results will be videos on that topic. For example, some terms you can search are "easy air fryer recipes," "ten-minute ab workout," or "iPhone 15 review".

O you should peep the thread I made for the video the YouTuber second thought just dropped on liberals.

Liberals in HL predictably reacted the way the video said they would and none of them had any kind of self reflection over it

I’d call it a lack of self awareness but it’s obvious that’s not the case it’s much more nefarious than that at this point in the game

I hope those who are wondering why Alphabet (Google and YouTube) has been hating on TikTok for the past three year, this is why. Their position alongside Meta and Amazon has been threatened and that's why they want TikTok banned. Amazon's reasoning on hating is that TikTok has a in-store shop in the app. You can buy some SSDs, pre-workout powder, protein powder and a computer monitor for examples. That alone pisses Amazon (and even eBay) off because it's all fun and games, until the big name companies start selling the products on the TikTok shop.
