Tical 2000 was the closest to a 5 star meth album we had

Terrible album. Maybe 1 or 2 joints on it. Anyone who thinks this was a classic or his best album was definitely a young kid when it came out, like middle school days when you were in your own "golden age" of hip hop for your time. Maybe I'm flabby and sick but I'm proud to have been in high school when Wu-Tang 'Enter The 36' and the original 'Tical' dropped.

In retrospect, 1998 was a year when the game started getting wack.. Production started getting into the cheap sounding Casio keyboard phase and producers/labels stopped using samples for the sake of more $$$. That garbaggio Swizz shyt. No Limit was flooding the market with horrible albums, which also were recorded and mixed poorly. It was the beginning of the end. There was still some dope shyt in 98, like Big Pun's debut, Pete Rock 'Soul Survivor', Gang Starr 'Moment of Truth', Onyx 'Shut Em Down'.... Down south heads would consider Juve's '400 Degreez', Scarface 'My Homies', and some No Limit albums as classics that year... but overall you could sense the shift.

If you wasn't a real head from them '88 to '96 years then you wouldn't understand.

What are the 1 or 2 joints you like on it?

Tical 2000 is better than Tical 0...

Cradle rock, Play IV Keeps, Step by Step, Spazzola, Dangerous Ground, Perfect World, Party Crasher, Judgement Day, and Torture would be my favorite tracks.

The fact that Meth put 28 tracks on one disc proves that he's been hanging around Red too much. Only he would make a 20 plus song album.

Mannn fukk that dangerous grounds was a banger and he shouted out Hempstead on that track so it means something to me. Judgement day is a time piece though, this girl I use to talk to use to bump sweet love lol I have memories with this album.

Torture, cradle rock, spazz, grind iron rap, (they killed that) play 4 keeps, element, killin fields,

nikkas expected all of the wu on the album. This was when that was changing.

Rza wanted a break and became Bobby digital.

That’s why in a way we love supreme clientele because ghost complied the group members on the album.

That's what I've been saying. Cut the skits and a few of the songs out and this could have been as good as Tical

Early Method Man didn't do it for me. He has the voice and he shines on a lot of features but his solo songs were just okay to me.

I know it's not a solo but Blackout was the first project where I was playing it back to back to back. Him and Redman got better and better up til that point and I was really impressed with both from then on.

Tical and T2 didn't move me.

I may get heat for this but method is not an album artist. If he did a 9 song type album with features. We would probably hold him up higher.

Notice how in thread everyone mentions the skits

Yet in my stankonia is … wack thread. No mention of the 9 skits it has.

Interesting. Interesting.

If you gotta remove this and that then it's not that great.

Eh. The albums problem Was too many cooks in the kitchen. You remove 3/5 cooks and its a fine album

If you gotta remove this and that then it's not that great.
Wh
Judgement Day was Meth & 4th doing a Planet Rock style updated old school throwback. It's meant to be it's own thing.

And agree that strip it down to just the songs and it's a great album.

And calling Shaolin What a "skit" is blasphemy. Should have been a 6 min long posse cut over those ill pianos.

shaolin what was 100% the originqp intro

Because 4th cribbed the bill cooper hour of the time radio intro for that track.

Prollu changed when they did the 2k theme

HORRIBLE analysis. 1-2 joints is straight hyperbole, analyze and shyt on everything, typical coli nonsense. 2 joints. Gtfoh lmao. Theres atleast 10 4/5 star joints at the very least. I guess you only listen to 5 mic rap or nothing.

Also the opposite of rose colored glasses. 98 was fine. Multi classics that year. Multi Wu classics even. T

shyt was like the 15th-20th wu album in 5 years. Its yall who expect TOO much. Wu was just not new by 98 and people heard new shinier things 20 albums later. Another example of wus “anything under 4 mic gets called terrible” hip hop trope; repeated because they seen someone else say it. Wu/meth fans called this their fav meth album for years…

Shaolin what
Perfect world
Cradle rock
Dangerous grounds
Torture
Suspect chin
Elements
Killimg fields
Judgment day

Are all EXCELLENT meth songs. What rza left behind or split into multi albums, true master/4th picked up. And party crasher, retrogodfather, sweet love, aint no slouches. Never mind the 3-5 cut joints, ost throwaways and meth/red wu tracks.

All these albums were just stacked to the gills and tried to be too many things at once. Rza already put rnb and party tracks on it woth sweet love and retrogodfather which are fine imo. Meth had 1 of every style of track on here. Had 2 posse cuts, one wu one not in spazzola and play 4 keeps, 2 funk/west coast sounding erick sermon tracks and 2 rnb tracks dead in the middle of an apocalypse themed tical album.

Cut meths down to its “tical” theme only with a SPLASH of commercial joints and its a 4 mic album at its absolute worst already as is.

Literally leave all the rza/true/4th + cradle rock and the 2-3 songs cut from it for blackout (fire in hole, run 4 cover, cerial killer dont fit BO vibe at all) more rhan a 4 mic. Add the 3 big tical sounding collabs in n2gether now, bulworth and the worst, thats a damn near thematic classic.

People say “if you gotta change shyt blah blah” , thats literally what people get paid to do. Whoever made that decision fukked the album but it easily savable and paired with other tracks of its ilk. I dont rate art based on business decisions def jam made in the office. Def jam ruined that album with its 2k marketing scheme it used to push all their artists making meth the driving force behind that whole thing/splitting it with blackout! And ost cuts and million useless skits and making meth make commercial joints to just tack on as extras. Not method man or wu tang.

You and whomever dapped you dont take none of this into consideration if you say its “terrible”. Terrible is Can I Bus… Nastradamus (which was half good itself)… the bad half of immobilarity. Caps second album.

not Tical 2. Ima say NOTHING on the album is terrible at all. Its just the puzzle pieces dont fit at all. Find other pieces that fit its by far the best METHOD MAN ever gave us despite a glaring style change. You take all those non wu songs and pair them with meths other collabs they work fine as a tical 0 type album. But not tical 2.

This album is better than many albums that were considered “hotter”. Like that nore album that has 3 great songs, 5 cool songs snd rhe rest forgetable.

I removed most skits and its a really dope album. Still a bit too many songs probably, but it's hard to think of the ones I would delete off top

Seemed you missed meth's album of the year tho.

421 = meth highest quality album.

You even propping tical 2000 is basura and shows you need to review more records and dig in the crate.

As your idea about culture base hiphop records is skewed in a commercial flavor. That usually yields poor results in quality records in rap.
You need to review records more.

If you think tical 2000 is even worth a revisit.
