I'm not condoning what the director did, or making light of her feelings towards it cause she's right to get the scene deleted, but I can understand the cast and crew wanting to distance themselves from this

By making this a public spectacle, it takes away from the opening weekend and the entire project they all worked so hard on. I'm not accusing her of doing this as a "clout chase" move, but it's pretty much all people are talking about now, instead of the film.

Ultimately the scene got deleted within 24 hours, and the director apologized. By doing promo with her, the other actors and cast are opening themselves up for mass public scrutiny by even sitting beside her when the question is asked. They're now put in a situation where they have to either condone or dismiss the director's actions, regarding a hot ass button topic in Hollywood...

This conversation could have been handled internally, or it could have waited a few weeks, being that she already got her wish - for the scene to be deleted and the director to apologize. If her wish is to have the whole cast throw their director (and essentially the studio) under the bus so she can be this week's hero, ehhh...
