Rumor has it that NBC was only offering a 12 episode episode final season, while Netflix was offering 20 episodes along with $1 million increase in budget per episode plus higher pay for the cast.

Man this show is crazy as fukk, It's definitely the new "Lost" in my book, with all these twist and turns. But it keeps me entertained, I cant fukking lie.
Just binged this over the past week and a half or so. shyt was intense. 
. Never saw Lost or anything similar so can't compare it. I enjoyed it for what it's worth. Last season should be a good one. Just not big on the super natural sci-fi thriller type of shows. Need to go look for some comedy sitcoms on Netflix to get my mind back in a normal state of being.
