He's right about 2Pac.

Pac is definitely a lyricist.

People say he's not because he doesn't do that cartoonish, goofy ass punchline shít.

"You sweet as a glazed ham, and if I don't got the burner, you gettin' tazed, man, so like a pimple, stay outta my face, man":mjlol:
People are comparing him to Biggie which is mistake. Biggie rapped in iambic pentameter. Probably cause his mom was an English teacher.

Pac was always a lyricist, just not multi-syllable like others. Plus he made everyone feel his music thru emotion. But look what’s popular now so it doesn’t matter. Only old heads care about it.
Pac actually had multis and inter-rhyme schemes. What Pac didn't use much of (if any) were metaphors aside from Me And My Girlfriend.

BDK said it perfectly when describing the differences between rappers like Nas and himself vs a Pac or DMX. The former had lyrics that made you pause and run it back because you couldn't believe what they said. The latter would hit you in the soul because they made you feel it.

i agree, always say ppl forget rap is still just music. it doesnt have to be scientific and all that it just has to sound dope

That's not true either.

There are amazing rappers that don't even rap to music. The artform in itself is not confined to the GENRES (half the country singers are rapping now) of music that people utilize it in. When you reduce it to just music you devalue the RAP and it's scope beyond entertainment.

Still very much RAPPIN without the backdrop or entertainment value.

Kane had a song with Pac too.

This the type of thinking that has hip-hop in the state it's in today.

Y'all can cry about NY elitism all you want, but them nikkas set the standard and they should never have been guilt tripped into accepting wack nikkas into the fold

This.

Writing lyrics does not make you a lyricist it's the level of skill you show.

Lil Pump is a lyricist by Willie's definition.

Pac originally was a syllable and cadence king.

That debuted and drew using that style on a lead movie soundtrack submission.

As far as Willie d. This shyt is two face disengenuine cap.

As Willie d was trash to scarface.
As scarface arguably has one of the most haunting story telling records of all time. In a minute to pray and a second to die.

Plus even scarface had to lean back.

from Big Mike from rhe convicts.
the original best emcee from rhe south.
Setting the bar too high for Willie.
or scarface to match in legacy. When big Mike joined the geto Boyz.

Making both them nikkaz have to ramp and use ghostwriters to save face.

then going solo a d making one of rhe definitive southern lp's.

As well as setting the bar all time two fold.
for the best rnb collab and double time record at the same time. With it was all a dream.

Total revisionist cap by Willie d.

not to mention chamillionaire a juice disciple.
also set the bar to far.

for willie d to even be recognized in legacy. Besides a c00n minstrel show meets low quality act bar to bar.

Eh...in a way he's right. As I get older, I start to appreciate a total package than rappity rap ass raps.

Willie wasnt the best rapper by any means, but he low key had one of my personal favorite verses of all time.

Some cases less is more, but having a bit of lyricism, cadence, content, story telling, and a hit in the making 🤌🏾
