In my eyes and many, Doom carried the FF franchise. He and Magneto stand supreme as the top elite ALL TIME Marvel villains. If his genius, conceit, arrogance, determination, and obsession with power is captured on film, he will be immortal in the superhero film craze.

A genius set to show his vision of ruling the world will bring peace and structured discipline to the planet. The Emperor Doom story was great...he's too smart for his own good but is a fantastic inventor and knows enough of magic to save his own ass from certain death.

take for instance the real phoenix saga, and how jean was put into stasis.
just that situation, and the space odyssey that spawns from it would make way more money if adapted correctly.

that is just for starters.

next, if they wanted to spin the franchise off they could do so, in four to five direction.
case in point, with mags as a more central character and focus with prof x away.
just like the comic books and appeal to the teen social dynamic draw of mutants with new mutants.
plus, interweave the plot of jean's disappearance and re-emergence.
along with the birth of nathan summers/cable and do an apocalypse movie.
all while after an incredible phoenix space odyssey.
which would be an entirely new franchise in xfactor.

next, if you wanted to have storm and others disappear.
you could write the mutant massacre and have the xmen go through the seige perilous.
to explain why xfactor had to fight apocalypse alone.
then, reunite the team in xtinction agenda, or inferno.
plus, introduce the general fan to mr sinister, as a villian.
which could then, interweave in apocalypse as well.
plus, why jean and scott are so important.
when, even as an xmen lover.
i can't stand jean and scott.
yet, their story if written right and adapted would make incredible film.
just scott's real origin and how his glasses came about, to his head injuries and where his parents and brother were.
are all huge potential drawing content in a film.
that should not be ever ignored.

They go to these movies because of the special effects. They go see Iron Man because RDJ portrayal. A lot of these writers/directors/producers have never read comic books in their lives. I don't judge these movies based on the source material. I judge each one on its own merit. Take Avengers for example. Because you have different movies and different people with their hands in the pot you don't have 100% continuity. On directors vision might be different from the previous movie. Because you had the useless/forced love angle in Thor it made making Thor 2 not as good because they had to reintegrate it. And when Thor came back in Avengers Weeden probably hit them with the when they floated the idea of putting Portman in it.


Lord Of The Rings worked because you had 100% continuity. It was 1 continuous story broken down into 3 parts. But those fantasy type flicks are on the decline. you're talking about 2 different markets. Comic book readers and casual movie goers. 2 different markets, 2 different market strategies. They realized the potential of the movie market but by the time they realized what they had it was too late as they sold the rights to some of their characters.
