comic book enthusiasts make up a small portion of viewership. Casual movie goers don't give a shyt as long as the action/cgi is on point. They fukked up the source material for the entire xmen series and its still popular. Hell, the CGI was horrible in the first Wolverine movie and people still went to see it. These movies are guaranteed $200 million on the strength of the trailers alone. Transformers did 100 mil the first weekend even though the last 2 were weak and wasn't even marketed that much. Audiences have low expectations and will go see a movie even if someone says it will be bad just so they can see for themselves.
And honestly, because the last 2 FF movies were so shytty, I doubt they can do worse. The more they distance themselves from the last 2 the better.
first off, let's take transformers out of this.
that is a general fan based toy.
transformers the comix plays no part in the draw to the general fan of draw of transformers.
the toys play a part to its general fan draw.
the comics, play no part in the draw of transformer.
not to mention, the reason why the last transformers.
the best one in the series did awfully.
is they made a craptastic second movie, that ruined the franchise.
this last movie was grade a.
yet, it is lost in the fray because the second sequel was so gawd awful.
damaging the franchise beyound repair, damn near.
to the point, the relaunch has not gotten any press for being arguably the best in the franchise making, the franchise on the decline as far as consistent fan interest, too.
all because of a piss poor second movie, which nullifies the good of the last two films.
which were excellent....
wolverine as a lone movie franchise is one of the worst abominations, Ever.
the last movie he spent not trying to be wolverine.
when, the movie is called:
THE WOLVERINE
next,...
again, fans of lotr never complain and lotr wins awards.
not to mention, lotr are visually better movies and content infinitely better than any comic book movie.
plus, if the comic book movie stayed closer to the source material.
they would make way more money and more prestige just like lotr, as well.
take for instance the real phoenix saga, and how jean was put into stasis.
just that situation, and the space odyssey that spawns from it would make way more money if adapted correctly.
that is just for starters.
next, if they wanted to spin the franchise off they could do so, in four to five direction.
case in point, with mags as a more central character and focus with prof x away.
just like the comic books and appeal to the teen social dynamic draw of mutants with new mutants.
plus, interweave the plot of jean's disappearance and re-emergence.
along with the birth of nathan summers/cable and do an apocalypse movie.
all while after an incredible phoenix space odyssey.
which would be an entirely new franchise in xfactor.
next, if you wanted to have storm and others disappear.
you could write the mutant massacre and have the xmen go through the seige perilous.
to explain why xfactor had to fight apocalypse alone.
then, reunite the team in xtinction agenda, or inferno.
plus, introduce the general fan to mr sinister, as a villian.
which could then, interweave in apocalypse as well.
plus, why jean and scott are so important.
when, even as an xmen lover.
i can't stand jean and scott.
yet, their story if written right and adapted would make incredible film.
just scott's real origin and how his glasses came about, to his head injuries and where his parents and brother were.
are all huge potential drawing content in a film.
that should not be ever ignored.
which is why xmen first class is a piece of shyt film.
as you have scott's brother just there for no reason.
a butterfly, and a black guy used as fodder.
only good thing about the movie is raven/mags/x.
when, all three have way more interesting story arcs individually.
that should have been used better to introduce rogue and nightcrawler for starters.
so, just stop trying to tell me.
a person who actually read these books.
that some dufus who is a money whore at a film house.
knows what he is doing...
when, he could cash grab, make high quality films and win awards and generate way more money as well.
plus, spawn other franchises off the movies.
to keep fan interest high for the entire comic book realm of movies at this filmhouse.
if these comic book movies were better.
they would gross three to four times more money and be on par with starwars as a real phenomenon.
not, just some afternoon excursion everyone went to see during the summer.
from a lack of quality in everything else.
comic book superhero movies are nuffin more than a declining draw based medium.
after all the other genre's of film have been b*stardized and rendered a non-draw, from a lack of quality.
as comic book movies are also descending into the same territory.
as other b*stardized non-drawing film genre's and mediums right now.
especially if we cite the xmen, as a reference point of discussion.
when, it comes to declining draw.
