so you agree they don't represent the majority.
the other 70% do
You said you don’t expect poor black people to represent normal black people…. What’s the difference between a poor black 15 year old and a middle class 15 year old? And what is a normal black person to begin with?

I said impoverished black people don't represent what it means to be a black person from a normal background. yes. I believe that.
I believe we overpromote and glamourized the impoverished lifestyle so much, that even kids who grew up rich go around talking about how they stand on business and trying to be hood instead of being who they are.
I believe we should market more mainstream lifestyles in the black community more.
I believe the 70% reflects more of a mainstream lifestyle than the 30% does.
The fact that this stance bothers people is proof that i'm correct.

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
It is absolutely the stuff we watch…. nikkas acting like Tyler Perry doesn’t have a tremendous following….. Yall acting like it ain’t 50 million nikkas that watch Tubi several times a week….. You don’t like it, don’t support it……. There was a whole thread and internet movement about a dope slinging Transgender running a titty bar while fukking gangster rappers….. I hate to break it to ya….but this is exactly the type of content we watch….

Of course black folk watch this stuff from time to time.

The problem with this show is that:
  • They're remaking a classic and simply leaning into cheap tropes and c00nery, so ofc people will take umbrage with this 'interpretation'. If they would have simply called it anything else, we'd probably ignore it like we did the "The Cleveland Show".
  • Its also on a major streaming platform, watched by millions upon millions. This aint some random hood flick on Tubi.

You’re probably right about if it wasn’t a remake a lot less people would care…… but the pushback has been about the imagery, not the disservice it’s doing to the original. Hell, a lot of new nikkas think Good Times depict black people in a bad light….. and while Tubi isn’t Netflix status…. It still has 70 million active users and will probably cross 100 by the end of the year

This shows the upper middle class and wealthy black folks need more representation culturally in media.
Even someone that grew up a millionaire is making content that in no way reflects his background.

Are you suggesting the majority black people live below the poverty line?, Thats not accurate. Middle class and upper middle are the majority, aka Regular Black folk. This isn't a reach. I don't consider impoverished black folks to represent normal black people. It's a niche, that is promoted as the norm.

Ftr, I suggested no such thing, and I hate when ppl do that, 'Everybody disagrees so I must be right' shyt. No, we can all agree that you're wrong. :skip:

I think you are WILDLY optimistic that Jews and their henchmen will do anything at all positive for our image, any class. Cosby was able to do what he did because he'd built cultural and professional capital over decades. No one of his caliber currently exists. The current 'black' middle/ upper class is either powerless or c00ns or anti FBA off jump.

So, no, you will never see anything like that again. We had a moment and it's over. We de-centered ourselves and squandered whatever (social, political, economic, cultural, moral) capital we had on others.
