I noticed it for Rush Hour. Couldn't even get mad because Lord knows that movie had some racist jokes whether we laughed or not :yeshrug:
Rush Hour wouldnt of been Rush Hour without that commentary.

this same generation wanted to cancel Ghengis Khan from history books.

I mean, it's definitely dumb as fukk but I told my cousins to watch the Godfather and these bytchass niccaz called me up like "man did you hear what they said about black people? Is there gonna be more of this?".

Soft asses got pulled completely out of the movie because of one sentence spoken by a mobster.

This is for those generations who need to be reminded at every turn that everything is ok and that art cannot physically harm them. A lot of them need the critical thinking to be done for them, or at least they need someone (in this case movie studios) to hold their hands a little bit.

And my cousins definitely think they're on some next level woke shyt :russ:
I never understood why people get mad at the racism in mob movies??

Like What do you think they were like???

People really want things sugar coated for them :snoop:

i thought they only did this on those disney movies like song of the south

i dont expect warnings like this on movies like goodfellas (with lots of violence, strong language, and slight racism) but would expect it on something like song of the south. its definitely a product of the times that is racist.

i dont get butthurt about stuff like that but i do whip my head up if im not paying attention. i was watching 30 rock which is only 10 years old and went "yikes" at them saying tranny. not because i give a shyt about the word but because i know people would be pissed if it was new

I don't understand how is this possible when this younger generation loves non black rappers using the N-word and grew up on Quentin Tarantino.

That scene isn't about black people, it's about the hypocricy of the Italians. That's not even deep critical thinking that's a surface level understanding of the scene. Any young person watching that could actually learn how pointless and stupid racists actually are.

Cook though if you feel how you feel, guess you're the audience that these kinds of warnings are meant for:yeshrug:

In there defense. That line faced some heat in the 70s as well. The rumor was the line was even more disrespectful. But Jesse and the NAACP were gonna protest. So the studio had the lines changed or something like that.

you say they're soft but on the flipside many people don't enjoy spending their free time watching or listening to racist media masquerading as entertainment. They weren't wrong to question if there'd be more of it so they could possibly bush it.
One mans art is anothers propaganda.:sas2:

Breh, you're not wrong. I'm being tough on them cause they're fam but they're growing up in way different times than I did. For me it was normal to hear shyt like that and I did the research way later on what was actually happening. They've been faced with this discussion since birth, and in the Netherlands we've had our own race discussions going on that wasn't really being done in my time.

Again that's why I added the "but".

I still think their generation is too soft :yeshrug:

Yes, they did :yeshrug:

They're 16 and 14, I call them Woke and Woker but their native language, like mine, is Dutch so they haven't realized yet that I'm making fun of them. I'm 34 years old so I'm not going to go hardbody on them for seeing things differently than I do tho.

That's why I started my initial post with "it's dumb but...", some of these kids might need a disclaimer like this. They're the internet generation so they might need some extra disclaimers on how to break down information. I'm not the expert but my cousins definitely aren't stupid, they're wired differently and their learning process won't be the same as mine.

They want to get into the Sopranos soon so I told them hold each others hands or something when you start that shyt :lolbron:

To be fair, they loved the movie in the end :yeshrug:

Not getting on you but the term “woke” has nothing to do with realizing what’s right or wrong. It’s just a synonym for the term “knowledge of self”. White liberals and conservatives done took that word and transformed it into something else.

@itsyoung!! ....this has been going on for years, dawg.

Check this 2014 article about Amazon Prime placing the disclaimer on Tom & Jerry cartoons, which had some of the most racist images in cartoon history (the Black maid with the house shoes whose face they never showed comes to mind...I had no idea her name was "Mammy Two Shoes", though....that's bad ENOUGH on its own :rudy:).

Subscribers of Amazon Prime will now see an ethnic and racial prejudice warning before watching "Tom and Jerry" cartoons.

BBC News reports that Amazon's streaming subscription service, which has access to the animated series of short films in its comedy collection, now features this warning before "Tom and Jerry: The Complete Second Volume": "Tom and Jerry shorts may depict some ethnic and racial prejudices that were once commonplace in American society. Such depictions were wrong then and are wrong today."

The original "Tom and Jerry," produced by MGM and directors William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, ran from 1940 - 1957. Over the years, they created 100-plus animations and took home seven Academy Awards. The slatpstick comedy series centered on a rivalry between Tom Cat and Jerry Mouse and featured many other characters in the mix.

Of concern through the years is the series' portrayal of women, smoking, racial stereotypes and cannibalism, including the cartoon's portrayal of a black maid named Mammy Two Shoes. There are also characters who appear in blackface.

This isn't the first time "Tom and Jerry" content has been put into question. Some scenes were edited when the original shorts were shown in the U.S. in the 1960s

I remember there was some website (might've been one of the Gawker ones) where they were saying that Revenge of The Nerds needed to have a trigger warning added to it about scenes of date rape because that one nerd banged the cheerleader while wearing her boyfriends costume.
