We you realize we have states that are bigger than entire countries, you understand why we will never be a nation of cyclists.
I'm assuming that's the netherlands. Maryland is bigger than their entire country.
Brotha, no ones asking for bike paths that stretch the entire length of the state of Maryland. All folks want is infrastructure that isn't so auto centric and huge sprawls. Interconnecting trails that get you to the hotspots within the area you are living. Like where I live. I can jump on the W&OD trail and get to work...but it's mad hilly and has a few sections that are unsafe due to road crossings. Trail should be accessible to ALL (no hills and if any inclines, very minimal percentage grades) with zero interactions with auto traffic

Everyone is fit there :wow:
More fit people
More attractive people
More healthy people
Which would mean cheaper healthcare
Which would mean more money in your pocket
More cycling and public transit means less impact on the environment

It's win after win after win.

And yet the coli remains dead set against it.
We all know the coli's track record....

Thecoli is full of republicans and truck owners so it makes sense but when you have been freed from car for a year and able to get around without it perfectly fine you realize how much of a piece of shyt cars are and only traveling by them is.

It creeps me out that we disagree on everything except this one issue.

And the climate is more mild than here year round. The extreme cold in the winter and the extreme hear in the summer makes this plan a pipe dream outside of a few major cities. Plus America has a large amount of land that a bike ride cannot complete in a small amount of time

How do your travel in snowstorm and rain? How do you even get groceries? You ride a bike at 2am after the club??? :mindblown:

It’s so weird to just throw that out there with zero context and use that to support an argument

How many of those trips have things in the car that aren’t practical for a bike? Groceries, tools, packages, luggage etc

How many of those trips are people with kids? You want to ride a bike lane in a damn city with kids? Good luck

How many of those trips are done in the heat, cold, or rain?

How many of those trips are multiple stops and errands in different parts of the city.

You can’t just throw an arbitrary number out there without proper context.

You got to figure out terrain, how the climate is, and how large your household is.

Thats most of the planet. Not everyone can live in a major city, for space reasons. Human beings need their personal space to have their privacy, outside of a small apartment.
It's not binary choice between licing in a big city and living in a desertic suburbs

The typical american suburbs is an anomaly created by and for cars: it's a pplace where you can't do nothing without a car. An anomaly

Yeah, but riding around bike outside of exercise around the immediate neighborhood is pointless. Plus you cannot ride it at night or in certain seasons throughout the year.

If you live in a tropical climate where the geography is smaller than Rhode Island, yes, a bike can do it. If you in some isolated Midwest or Southern state where the nearest supermarket is 20 miles away, not so much.

Doesn’t mean we have to implement everywhere but big cities should have infrastructure for bikes
