Ask yourself why your city isn't redesigning to be more pedestrian friendly.

This is a local election issue. Vote for candidates who want to invest in public transportation and walkability.

There's a ton of housing that can be built on these mega parking lots and keep in mind a lot of these highways destroyed black neighborhoods.

City design is a HUGE factor in things like climate change, housing, air quality, health(think about the amount of time you spend sitting) etc.

I highly suggest that people take the energy they would be spending being outraged by the federal government theyre stuck with for at least the next 4 years and redirect it into local politics. You should be well informed on who is actually running the city and state you reside in.

Urban sprawl makes biking unfeaseable. But if the club, your job, and the grocery store were within 2-5 miles of you. Riding a bike wouldn’t be an issue.
yeah the infrastructure has to be there. no point on bike lanes if the closest store or anything is 30 miles away. I believe OP is arguing that there are tons of existing neighborhoods where this could be a possibility with a little planning, political buy-in, and investment. more pedestrian-friendly, more bike-friendly and still allow for cars. But the appetite for the average american just isn't there.

My mind is blown when I even see neighborhoods or towns with no sidewalks. I'm like why? :why:

Have you walked around walmart lately ? Majority of this country is out of shape. Even if we had the infrastructure for this, most people in this country cant even get on a bike without falling down

America's economy makes sure you won't live close to your job. 30% of all workers spend 3 hours a day traveling to and from work.
That is because highway and urban planning was co-opted by car manufacturers to guaruntee people needed cars to live. This has been well documented.

There will need to be massive urban planning overhauls to make biking work
You have this ridiculous idea that somehow bike infrastructure only makes sense in large cities.

85% of the country is pointless?
You're so wrong
I’m saying unless urban planning itself is changed. A person who lives 30-40 miles from their workplace ain’t gonna ride a bike to work no matter how many bike lanes exist.

Urban sprawls kills biking. I don’t know why you’re even arguing with me.

Average commute to work in the US is 27miles.

I was in south central and would bike 9 miles to downtown LA regularly. Took 35min on average and I’m advanced. 27miles for a regular person would be around 2 hours.

4 hours daily biking commute is not feasible.

Not this goofy sh*t again... what about the elderly or those with young kids who rely on their own personal vehicles to get around.

Enough with this anti-car nonsense, move out there already

Your goofy ass makes this type of thread every 3 months, let this sh*t go. And aren't you from NYC? Imagine this bozo telling people to bike from Midtown all the way to Co-op City or Bensonhurst:dead:
You would hang out in Bensonhurst, wouldn't you.

First of all, im black. That's been proving a couple times. Secondly you probably get enjoyment riding bikes without seats, bozo
By the way you know what's a better way to get to Bensonhurst from Manhattan than a car?

Public transit.

Yep. Not everyone likes 0.25 miles away from a school or can carry their elderly (grand)parents to doctor appointments with their back :skip:
