wood Harris was still in college when he got his part in Above the Rim

There’s a girl in the class who looks like Snoop, but I’m not sure if they’re actually related.

Namond makes a point to call Chris and Snoop by name to let it be known that they know who they are, in case Michael never comes back. Not that there’s much that Namond and the boys can exactly do with that information, but it’s the only way Namond can help.

Michael makes a point to thank Namond for this when he gets back.

my favorite part of this scene is when bodie pops off. you hear someone in the back yell out “shyt is on”

that’s bodie catchphrase thruout the series:wow:

Yeah I remember him saying that when he wants to get payback for Stringer, and I think when they’re at the sex party too.

The background dialogue is great. They’ll often have crazy or funny things said by unseen characters, or just random characters

Slowest lookout ever. “They comin they comin” when they’re 20 feet away lol

Then the shyt talk at the end 0:45

This nonsensical conversation at the beginning about a whiteboy who’s bulletproof lol

I used to make the claim that Michael would have prospered in the Barksdale crew....now i beg to differ. It would have been a much slower climb due to the Barksdale's larger hierarchy in comparison to Marlo's crew, especially in the events before and during season 1. There would have been too many crew members above him to stand out. He'd be like a Walmart employee trying to move up. :mjlol:

In the case with Marlo, Mike had a direct line to him from the start, though that was fortuitous (Marlo happened to be present giving out money and Michael wasn't having it...and leaving a good impression).

Avon and String prolly wouldn't even know his name....until around Season 3 when a lot of their good soldiers were out of the picture.

Probably the most detrimental line uttered on the show

Politicians choosing their desire for power over the betterment of the people they serve.

Accepting the money from the Governor could have provided relief of the city's financial woes, but instead Carcetti's ego wouldn't allow it.

David Simon talks about it in an interview here:

Q: Are Marlo and Chris based upon real-life characters? Were they that cold? What about De'Londa and Brianna? Is there a real 'Bunny'? Is that Snoop's sister in class? [Pu, R.G., Linda in Florida, T. Turner]

A:
There was one particularly sociopathic dealer that Mr. Burns prosecuted who was regarded by even his contemporaries as too ruthless, too calculating to be trusted in certain situations. He was like a rare, unstable element that could not bond with allies for any length of time -- a prideful, cold player who valued his reputation even more than wealth or creature comforts. So yes, there is a model. But he is not all of Marlo -- and that man's chief lieutenant and enforcer, though lethal, is not all of Chris. Those characters are informed by other Baltimore players, by fiction, and of course, by the talents and choices of Jamie and Gbenga.

I will say this though: The murder of the security guard actually happened at a store on W. North Avenue and involved the very crew described above. Over disrespect and little more. So, yes, they could be cold.

Same logic with De'Londa and Brianna. They are based on aspects of several real-life people, adding in fiction and the work of two fine actresses as well. All of these performances are a composite -- a reflection of real Baltimoreans, wholesale fictions and the talents of the people portraying the characters.

There was a popular BPD lieutenant with the nickname of Bunny. He was white, though. In some respects, Bunny Colvin reflects Ed Burns' affection for his first commander, Capt. Dennis Mello, who was commander of the Western when Ed was assigned there as a patrolman in 1972. But again, Robert Wisdom has as much to say as Ed's memories and the intentions of various writers.

Snoop's sister may or may not be in Namond's class. The reason that Namond uttered that line about her sister being in class, using Snoop's name, as well as the previous line of "Sure, Chris, we'll bump" was to affirm to the gangsters that they were known to all the boys, thereby discouraging them from doing anything to Michael. In leaving Michael, Namond was calling out Chris and Snoop and saying: "If something bad happens to Mike, we know you." It's for that reason that Michael, on rejoining Namond later, thanks him: "Good looking out."

Still the greatest TV show of all time. Peerless. Truly.

Game of Thrones looked like it was gonna take the crown there for a lil bit, but then season 8 finished. :manny:

The writing/storytelling in GOT declined so badly.

There’s a clear decline after season 4, but I still enjoyed 5 and 6. They’re more up and down but I still liked them. But then the rushed silliness of season 7 and especially season 8 :scust:

Some of the final episodes felt like a parody.
