I used to make the claim that Michael would have prospered in the Barksdale crew....now i beg to differ. It would have been a much slower climb due to the Barksdale's larger hierarchy in comparison to Marlo's crew, especially in the events before and during season 1. There would have been too many crew members above him to stand out. He'd be like a Walmart employee trying to move up. :mjlol:

In the case with Marlo, Mike had a direct line to him from the start, though that was fortuitous (Marlo happened to be present giving out money and Michael wasn't having it...and leaving a good impression).

Avon and String prolly wouldn't even know his name....until around Season 3 when a lot of their good soldiers were out of the picture.

That’s true, they moved Michael up very fast. They looked at him like a criminal prodigy lol

Not long after hiring him, they train him in combat, give him a corner, and have him doing hits.

Early in season 4, Marlo (with Chris’s advice) rejects some of the older dealers’ offers to do a hit. They’re trying to impress Marlo and he’s completely unimpressed. But they move this 13-14 year old kid very fast.

Never got that feeling at all with GoT, even before the fall-off.
GoT gave the feeling of a great, amazing story. With strong dialogue and strong visuals of fantasy cities.

But a lot of the performances were not strong as most were young or rookie actors/actresses.

It was the cliff hangers in the story that brought you back. While the wire you could have a scene and just saying fukk but strong actors draws you in. And it's the reason you keep seeing most of the cast on the wire pop up and many tv series over and over again.

If you notice with GoT once they out paced the source material and got far ahead of tbe books the quality dropped dramatically. The actors were not strong enuff to save it. Once the budgets tightened up less dragon scenes and the quality of the dragon scenes didn't look as good. The actors couldn't save it

Most fans who rewatch GoT their favorite scenes are with varys, tyrion, tyein or little finger talking. The verbal jousting. And of course they are some of the better actors in the show.

I can't think of any scene with daenerys where her acting or long talking scenes were stand out and I gotta rewatch.

I saw this on Reddit, it was a good catch:

Scott Templeton is established as a liar much earlier than people think. In S5 E2 we watch him tell Gus about a dead mother of 4 he's writing about. He says the mother died of a shellfish allergy.

In the very next scene, McNulty arrives late to investigate a dead woman. The beat cop tells him she's a mother of 4. McNulty determines she died in her sleep.

McNulty was late because he was forced to take the bus since all the police cutbacks are leaving the detectives with crappy cars. So Scott was too lazy to wait for the homicide detective to arrive on the scene, and decided to make up a story.

The Wire shows us his lie first and then we get the truth from a minor character. Easy to miss the first time around but on rewatch I caught Scott's lie immediately.
Another one in Season 5 when Michael and Dookie are reading potential jobs for Dookie to get, Dookie is wearing a shirt with Bubbles on it, and Mike is wearing a shirt with a Crown on it. Foreshadowing.

I noticed that on my last rewatch about a month ago. i think there another scene where it kinda implies he lied about something else at a previous job

but i could be misremembering it. either Scott was top 3 woat characters on the wire. despicable person:scust:

Those are both good pulls.

I was coming in the thread to disagree with the Mike shirt foreshadowing, because I thought the crown refers to Avon or Marlo.

But then I thought about the line from the guy that Mike eventually replaces.

I didn't know Maestro (Randy) used to live with Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri. And this was before he got on The Wire.

Quoting because I swear I listen to this ep at least once a month. Can't lie, got misty eyed several times the first couple of times watching it.
