Let me shut down your argument right away about the kid.
When Omar and crew crashed the door...the brought Stink and the pit workers into the apt.....dj clue...the young kid were the ones inside (who knew where the drugs were).....they caught another guy coming down the stairs....but dj clue and the young kid were the ones inside.....Omar and crew staked it out and knew what was what.
He didn't aim at the kid because of the reason you mentioned, but because he and clue-minatti were the ones who were inside the spot when they crashed in....Poot,Bodie, Stink and whoever else they forced inside were outside when the drop was being made.
You created a scenario to fit your viewpoint, but the way the scene plays out..more than likely it's how I described it.

I think the mistake some people make is that they watch the show with commentary on, so their views and interpretations aren't their own..but how the writers/directors see it..(or they watch with closed captions)

For example....dj clue was a minor character....I've watched the entire series about 10 times..and NEVER noted or heard his name. How did you know his name was Sterling? Closed captioning? commentary? Did another character later mention him getting shot?

:skip:

Well it looks like you will need to watch 11 times then. Clearly you're not as observant as you think. I've never watched this or any show with commentary on. That shyt is annoying. Have I watched special features on DVDs? Absolutely.
However that's not how I know Sterlings name. He was a minor character...but he had a name. D'Angelo had mentioned it before when he found out STERLING and CASS were stealing. Cass was the girl whose eggs D'Angelo broke when he caught her coming from the store. You remember. String told D to hold that paper and whatever workers weren't pressing him to get paid were the ones who were stealing.
Wallace and D were having a talk. Wallace asked "why you bust Sterling down to lookout? He got shot in the leg behind this shyt". D explained he demoted him rather than tell String because Sterling and Cass woulda got a bat beatdown...at a minimum.
To quote "Cool Lester Smooth", 'It's all in the details'. So go head and give the series another watch. That's what makes this the greatest show on TV of all time. You can always find something new when you re-watch.
And just cuz you missed something, don't mean it wasn't there.:sas1: I see what you tried to do there, youngin :sas2:

But I'm not wrong. Because like you said:

art is open to personal interpretation.

You see it one way, I see it another. We'd just be going back and forth for no reason. Because I could argue that Bodie, Poot, and Stink knew where the stash was as well. But we'd both just be offering our own interpretations. You can't definitively say he didn't ask them because he knew they didn't know. No way you can prove that. No way I can prove they did. But logically and realistically Sterling and the young boy weren't the only ones who knew where the stash was in the house. If Omar shot him do you think he'd have left on some "oh well no way the rest of these guys know anything. We snatched em from outside. Dammit! Foiled again!" So I digress.

Difference is..when you mentioned the conversation between Wallace and D'angelo I IMMEDIATELY knew that you were right.....because 2 people got demoted by D .....the girl who had the eggs that D was throwing on the ground...and a guy.....it was in fact dj clue. that makes sense without me even going back to confirm it.

You won't admit that I'm right though.Omar cased the joint....knew to expect the reup.....knew that there was no muscle guarding the reup...who was inside watching it....and everything else...
Dj clue.......the kid and the guy with the wave stocking cap who entered..are the 3 people who could have known EXACTLY where the stash went and the size of the re up. DJ clue and the kid DEFINITELY knew because, as Omar observed...they were the ones who recieved the re-up .When Omar's boy grabs the stash....Omar confirms with the kid that it was just 2 g packs.
He shot Clue...and then he aimed the shotgun RIGHT at the kid.
If you watch the scene again..he has his gun/shotgun on the 2 workers who accept the reup.....before his boy has brought everybody else inside.

Go in......throw gun in the face of the people who know where the stash is, pop off if you have to.....grab drugs and bounce....
kick down door at 1:22 by 2:50 you're out of the stash house
The point of me bringing up the barrel aimed at the kid is because it's inconsistent with the way the character was introduced to bring up the soft spot for kids line in season 5....it's a cop out.

Your quest to be "right" has you all over the place. If there was no muscle, what do you think Stinkum was? Do you not realize that Stink's arrival let Omar know it was time to go into action? Because thru casing the joint...he observed Stink dropping off re-ups! :why:

There isn't anything for you to be "right" about here. You feel Kenard killing Omar was a cop out. Thats the way YOU FEEL. It's not a fact.
I pointed out that Omar underestimated kids. You're confusing underestimating with a soft spot. They're not the same thing. True Omar very well may have shot that young boy if he didn't reveal the stash. But the fact that he didn't has nothing to do with a soft spot. But everything to do with a smart career criminal knowing the young boy was most likely to give it up after seeing what just happened to Sterling.

Anybody else walks in that carry out, Omar is on point. Even if Dukie or Namond walk in, Omar is readying that shotgun. He sees lil Kenard and thinks this lil hopper aint doing shyt. And it killed him. You somehow see a cop out in that. I don't based on the way the story has been written and characters fleshed out.

Especially since the whole series, he never once killed a kid. And when he knew kids was slanging for the Ops, he’d still walk up and run them off the corner, before blasting the adults. I mean he had just ran up on mike, a kid, knowing he was Marlo crew, and didn’t murk him off GP. Any adult he caught out there would have caught a bullet in that situation

It wasn’t like he was gonna sacrifice himself if it was his life or a kid. But he damn sure likes kids. Even when he was giving free crack to that one mom, cause she had a baby. Then later on he’s seen holding and watching the baby.

He definitely had an Achilles heel and it was children

ok....just wanted to hear that he drew on the kid and would have shot him. That's it.
My opinion is that it's a copout.....taken from the source I pointed out earlier (and with THE writer of that work as part of the writing team)...nothing before that scene gives the indication that Kenard would kill anybody. Not even the lazily written scene of him torturing a cat..and not even the scene of him saying "THAT'S Omar?..he's gimpy than a MFer"

fukk season five.....fukk hbo for giving them fewer episodes in that season than in previous ones....whole season is off.

Once he came back on the warpath...he robbed people slinging for Marlo without shooting them . Two notable times......once when he burned bag of Marlo's money and told the worker why he did and that Marlo was p*ssy.."scared to come to the streets and dance"

and in the scene before his "Marlo is not the man for this town" rant..he robbed a corner that was Marlo's and threw the drugs down the sewer...not killing a single person....the final robbery was after the Monk's apt. shootout for sure because he was limping and looked bad

Fans liked Omar partly because he had and pretty much lived by a code. He told the cops his code "no taxpayers, no mistakes, no innocent by standers.....just run up on and hit the right person" Cops knowing him and his code helps him when they try to set him up for the Old Face Andre robbery and deliver woman hit. Bunk and McNulty immediately know that's not his M.O.Not hitting kids, women, those not in the game
was part of his code I guess.

Guy who played Gus was a series regular on Homicide. I wanted the show to have him playing an ex cop turned journalist, but season 5 was gonna be wack regardless.
I thought I wrote this earlier but apparently not.

Three other characters from Homicide appeared on The Wire

the judge that McNulty was snitching to was a cop
Homicide_life_on_the_Street.jpg

the Medical Examiner played Luther...a super creepy bad guy
images

i think this woman appeared as a fed or a judge

:dwillhuh: :why:

Do you need everything spelled out for you and to hit over the head with it before you understand it??

When you couldn't understand why Omar would ride so hard for Butchie, I had my suspicions but now I'm gonna come right out and ask.....have you ever been near any ghetto or remotely any kinda street shyt?

Did you need to see Kenard scrawling victims names in blood on the wall while laughing maniacally to believe he could kill somebody?

Here are the indications Kenard could end up killing someone: He was an unparented, disrespectful 10 year old selling dope on the streets of west Baltimore at all hours of the night. He never went to school, stayed on the corners, and no sort of parent ever came looking for him to take him home. He spit at cars when they didn't buy dope from him, puts shyt in bags to fukk with police, and talked to grown dope fiends like they weren't shyt.

"bytch, plant yo ass over here til I get back"
"She a got damn dope fiend" (In reference to Namond giving Mike moms a $3 discount on a bag of dope)

At his age, just from his demeanor alone you can tell that Kenard has already seen too much. A grade school drop out from West Baltimore already selling drugs and not even in his teens yet....and you say there are no implications he'd kill somebody. Wow. :skip:

as long as you conceded the original point that Omar aimed at and would have shot the kid, I'm good.As long as I got you to walk back that "omar was probably bluffing on shooting kid" &' he aimed at the kid rather than the older dudes who were in the room because he was easier to scare"

Compare everything you just wrote about Kenard's background with Michael
mom is a known drug addict....sells the household food for drugs
bugs' father molested him..and is back from jail
he backs down from NOBODY.....not marlo..not officer walker....not those 3 adult fiends who try to intimidate him, not Spider, not the guys who try to jump Randy, not Cutty
we literally see him changing into a killer..and even then it's still a bit surprising to see him do his first hit

Kenard? NO!!!
We see little kid hoppers the entire series....the kids Wallace and Poot were taking care of were hoppers.....the little kids holding drugs in bookbags for deliveries are transporting drugs.

You're a clown. If you want to take what I wrote as a concession, good for you. Your prize is in the mail and on it's way.
It's only surprising to your sheltered ass that Mike became a killer. And you needed to see Kenards home life to believe he could be what he became. The way he carried himself wasn't enough. :comeon:
