In the original song called “Bang” on Jeezy’s first album, he has a line that says “catch me bouncing through the club with my Crip flag”

but for some reason he changed it to “black flag”. On all the streaming services they use the black flag line.

it’s only a couple of videos on YouTube with the crip flag line, the rest of them say black flag.

Everyone talks about how Boss was a "Fake gangster" or whatever but literally on the intro of her album is a voice message from her mom saying how she grew up in a suburban household, went to catholic school and took tap dance and ballet lessons, how she went to college for 3 years, etc...

But nikkas act like this didn't happen, and years later act like it was new information when an article about her came out. nikkas killed her for being fake or "hiding her background" when she did the exact opposite.

J Dilla in general. He’s revered in death but a lot of people hated on his shyt when he worked with Tribe, solo Q-Tip, and Pharcyde.
Which is crazy from my perspective as a 34 yo. My relationship with Dilla leading up to and after his death was weird. I got into Tribe because of my older sister and her bf at the time. They used to play the shyt out of their first album. By the time I could buy my own in 6th 7th grade, I got The Love Movement which was their break up album basically. I LOVED the production on it and then her bf leant me Beats, Rhymes and Life because he hated it.

I was like ":ohhh:this shyt is incredible" and he would just tell me it was trash (:hhh:)

I didn't even know Dilla by name. My sister's bf bought me Amplified in 8th grade which made me even more aware of his production. I stumbled upon Pharcyde and Labcabin not too long after that. It wasn't until Like Water for Chocolate that I started associating the name to the production. It was crazy for me to learn from that XXL Tribe article that Dilla's production was a controversial wedge in the group. I read that shyt like :dwillhuh:.

Fast forward to 2006 and beyond and now he finally get's the recognition he deserved long before Donuts :unimpressed:

This was on the advance of the album that leaked. All retail versions have the "black flag" line. I have the day one CD release (before Jay got added to Go Crazy) and it's "black flag" on there

Mic Geronimo having a song called Time To Build on his debut album in 95 featuring Jay Z (which was simply spelled JZ in the liner notes), DMX and Ja Rule. It was produced by DJ Irv (Irv Gotti)

Crazy how Mic Geronimo was hot before all of them
:heh:

Jay Z featured on Da Graveyard which was on Big L’s first album

Mr. Dalvin from Jodeci co producing the Rainy Dayz remix for Raekwon and Ghostface

Erick Sermon’s kid group from Philly, Illegal. What happened to them? I know they broke up. Jamal had a couple songs after that. Lil Malik randomly popped up on Doggystyle. I heard a rumor years ago Kurupt was trying to recruit him to Death Row since they had that Philly connection

Busta Rhymes getting out the crack game after being held hostage in a Baltimore crack house and almost losing his life

Common being an unofficial member of the Roots at one point

Smif N Wesson’s brief run as the Coco Brovas

Speaking of Illegal. Another forgotten fact is that Lil Malik is actually from Holly Hill, South Carolina.

Sticky Fingaz was signed to Aftermath but left cause he didn't want to wait as per usual for artists on the label.

Supposed to be his first single (beat later given to Warren G).

 i swear he was about to sign to Aftermath but went with Universal instead with the thought that he'd still get Dre beats while having a better contract at Universal. I also remember Sticky's name showing up on early ads for Dre 2001 when it was still called Chronic 2000. I always figured "Remember Me" from The Marshall Mathers LP was just a 2001 leftover Dre just gave Eminem.

Soulja Boy signed a guy named "White Tee" right as he was blowing up on Myspace. I don't think any of his music survived the Myspace crash.

Could do a whole thread on the random white artists that got signed.

Diddy had Fuzzbubble and Dream and the white boy from Making the Band
Master P had 6 Piece and Fire Cracka from the Tight Whips video
Jeezy had that 50 year old man named Whyte
Cash Money had Kevin Rudolph or whatever his name was who did that song Let it Rock with Wayne
