I think a lot of that is now also how big the rap game is now and that the biggest rappers now have mostly gotten on without a cosign. They hang with each other but they aren't best friends like those guys were back in the day. Like now you got Lil Baby publicly charging 100k for a feature, that's him basically telling nikkas I don't fukk with y'all nikkas, I'm bout me and mine.

Nowadays it feel like every rapper has his own label and they mostly only do features with the dudes on their label.
