Ive heard all of these. One still bothers me to this day. Had 9 interviews with multiple people only to be told nah. I will never do business with them and I hope they fail :pacspit:

I was in my feelings over the two weeks excuse with a hospital jr sys admin job, shyt was perfect, surrounded by beautiful women, nice office, 70k salary, easy commute, etc...

2 weeks turn into 8 weeks and auto-reject email....not even a direct response from the interviewers....

Go to linkedin and found a cac who worked 1 tech job w/no experience at Staples got the job over me...

We'll call you
If you imply you need a two weeks to notice they'll say something like We're trying to find people as quickly as possible so we'll see( happen to me once)
They start prying into your experience heavy basically trying to fish if it's fake credentials (50/50 I've had employers do it and then reject me but maybe other people have different experiences)
Your first interview is with someone who's not the actual interviewer and just someone who has a list of questions they've been given by the real decision-maker( they already have someone in mind but they need to legally search for other candidates before giving the job to them)
they fold up your resume in front of you. (Seriously happened to me once) :mjlol:
Honestly, I know in the first 5 minutes if i'm getting far or not
happened to me so many times. working in academia my uni requires a 30day notice... once they hear that its on to the next candidate.

the prying into experience heavy happened to me once also with a really goofy low impact factor journal, asking my role in understanding some dna methylation. smh i shoudlve known what happened next

The "We'll get back to you" is a mind fukk because I've actually had a job get back at me via e-mail while I was expecting a phone call

Sometimes you gotta feel the energy/vibe out....you know you're interview is going good when y'all still talking after the shyt is over :dead and you walk out and see other muhfukkas like :mjtf:

So one of my managers told me that they specifically interview people from rival or adverse companies to get a inside into the former companies workflows and methodology just cuz. But if they are a good hire, they are a good hire.

Yall remember the application kiosk that was in every retail store back in the day? That shyt was the fukking worse. fukked up keyboard and buttons. Waiting on line like 25-30 minutes. Just to get denied. Like you had to fukking TRAVEL to the specific location to apply.

I used to spend my whole weekends going all over manhattan applying to CVS and walgreens

I think for us accountants, we don't typically beat around the bush in interviews or even waste time with bullshyt.

So that I could get out of working in my previous job. I had an interview for Finance Manager at MacArthur Foundation in Chicago, Controller for Lewis University and a Controller position where I did accept here in Indiana. I was a controller in my previous role as well. I did not get the Finance Manager position but I did make it to the final round of interviews. There were four rounds. For the last round, I interviewed with the Vice President and the CFO. I did well but I realized that it was not going to go the way I wanted because in accounting, a lot of people place precedent on the size of the business that you've worked for previously because typically, it means that you have been exposed to more things. I handled the questions with ease but they kept coming around to that point.

At Lewis University, I was ultimately hired for the job but I declined. First interview was with who would have been my immediate supervisor, second interview was with who would have been my staff, third interview was with the CFO. Weird structure in that they were going to have CFO->Assistant CFO->Controller (me)

Last one, the one that I did accept, phone call with who is now my current supervisor and then an interview with my current supervisor (CFO) and another person in senior leadership. That was it. I have a staff of 8, I just showed up and they didn't know shyt about me :mjlol:

All were handled through Teams/Zoom.

I'm not trying to say this as uppity but I think for certain positions or getting to certain levels within a profession, they handle these things in a more delicate way. It's been a while since I've had someone make me truly hit the :francis: or :mjtf: during an interview.
