Y'all had the likes of Olandis Gary, Reuben Droughns, and Tatum Bell putting up 1,000-yrd. rushing seasons. :mindblown:

Hell, Mike Anderson was converted from FB to RB, and even he did the same. :damn:

That Zone Blocking Scheme of Alex Gibbs allowed damn-near ANYONE to eat. :whew:

Whats crazy about the Mike Anderson shyt is he didnt just run for 1000 yds....his rookie year in 2000 was damn near 1500 yds with 15 TDs and OROY. In 2001 he split carries with TD and they combined for 1000+. Then the Broncos went a different direction for a few years while we threw other guys out there and Mike was the backup. 5 seasons later in 2005 we need him to start again and he gets 1000 yds and 12 yds :pachaha:

There is no fixing the RB problem in the pros. NFL/NFLPA are not going to bargain an exception for a few 19 year olds, RBs will just go the way of basketball centers and start to make their money off college NIL.

Video game play styles took over sports

basketball- 3’s and dunks rule

baseball- homeruns are king strikeouts out don’t matter

football- passing and going for it on mad 4th downs

the rb position was the premier position in the beginning

the push to elevate the qb always had a racist vibe to it

pay rbs for production

You're correct it was the premier position but time has shown that RBs are replaceable and splitting carries is the way to go. Broncos showed us hints of this 20 years ago and over time its proven to be true.
I agree with @010101 . I think the easing of the passing game and further protection of QBs helped make the league more of a QB driven league to keep white audiences more interested. As a result, passing became more efficient than in previous years and made the running game less important.

I hate it, has made the game less appealing to me. Bring back the Featured Back NFL!

Big facts. Early 2000s were dope

For example these guys were all legitimate feature backs in either 2002 or 2003:
Travis Henry
Curtis Martin
Ricky Williams
Jamal Lewis
Rudi Johnson
LaDainian Tomlinson
Priest Holmes
Charlie Garner
Clinton Portis
Eddie George
Edgerrin James
Fred Taylor
Stephen Davis
Tiki Barber
Duce Staley
Ahman Green
Anthony Thomas
James Stewart
Michael Bennett
Marshall Faulk
Shaun Alexander
Deuce McAllister

:wow:

I think running backs would benefit from their initial contracts being capped at 3 years, unlike now where they're 5 years for a 1st Rd pick and 4 years for non 1st Rd picks

Also, it'd be good if they could not be tagged or tendered after the 3 years.
That would be hard to police though. You would just get RB’s getting tossed out like $1 store shyt after that 3rd year with no one paying them and moving to the next draft pick

You can blame Belichik for this rb by committee shyt killing the position :beli:
