I heard that word in relation to league before 
Y'all had the likes of Olandis Gary, Reuben Droughns, and Tatum Bell putting up 1,000-yrd. rushing seasons.
Hell, Mike Anderson was converted from FB to RB, and even he did the same.
That Zone Blocking Scheme of Alex Gibbs allowed damn-near ANYONE to eat.
Whats crazy about the Mike Anderson shyt is he didnt just run for 1000 yds....his rookie year in 2000 was damn near 1500 yds with 15 TDs and OROY. In 2001 he split carries with TD and they combined for 1000+. Then the Broncos went a different direction for a few years while we threw other guys out there and Mike was the backup. 5 seasons later in 2005 we need him to start again and he gets 1000 yds and 12 yds

I agree with @010101 . I think the easing of the passing game and further protection of QBs helped make the league more of a QB driven league to keep white audiences more interested. As a result, passing became more efficient than in previous years and made the running game less important.
