The organization has been down on him since last year. I agree they need to let him sink or swim at 1B. But they clearly dont believe in him enough to even try. Especially with they year we're having might as see what you have.

He needs to perform this year but next year is definitely the year he needs to be preparing for in terms of showing something. Maybe put on a few lbs of muscle on the offseason but still maintain how lean he's been. Alonso is gonna be given a bigger look due to his ascension this year and he has a clear ++ tool (power) even if he isn't great in the field. I'm not as down on him as the team is due to his ability to hit in the minors. I almost feel like this year is somewhat of an adjustment for him bodywise and dude's only 23.

I lost confidence in Smith.. but THIS. Let him have the whole second half since its obvious that we're not playing for anything. I just don't get this organization. It's the logical thing to do.

People mad at Cespedes are bad fans. The Mets knew of Cespedes' heel issues back in 2015 and knew he'd need a procedure done at some point. They wanted to trot him out hurt like they did Beltran in '10. Should have shut him down back in May and had it done then so he could be ready for '19. Mismanaged this entire thing.
