The thing that really annoyed me was when I heard on this Mets fam podcast that the Mets have like 3 analytics guys and most teams have like double that and teams like the Yankees and Boston have like 10+.

I’m no Wilpon fan but people acting like the Mets are the worst team in pro sports and have the Rays payroll need to calm down
They were in the playoffs two years ago the World Series the year before and in the last 15-20 years have had decent success compared to a lot of franchises
Yes they do a lot of dumb sh1t and are being run badly right now but have a little perspective.

Matz with a nice recovery to be in line for the win if the Mets hold on. He could have been knocked out of the game in the third inning. Shutdown the Pirates through the last three.

Its still relatively early in the season, but the silving lining in the atrocity of a season is seeing Wheeler and Matz be able to take the mound every 5th day and be effective all things considered. It was looking like those two were never gonna get thru a season. Nice to see those two have their moments this year.

I’m not a fan of Matz at all. I think he’s average as fukk. But we need a minimum of one lefty in the rotation. If we just let them grow another year, and keep a 1-4 of deGrom, Thor, Wheeler, Matz and Lugo/Gsellman... we’ll be fine. We just need bats. Badly.

Also they are running a scam... this is literally a scam. They are pocketing the insurance money and not reapplying it to the franchise.

I don't care who the owner is... I care that they care about winning, about accountability, about putting the best product on the field and give the guys all the tools to succeed. This 100% is not something you can say the Wilpons are doing.

Agreed. The Mets spent the past few seasons building around pitching and they're going to abandon that now? The only hole in the rotation is Vargas. By trading Matz and/or Wheeler, you create multiple holes. They're developing to be solid guys. You have an elite, very good and two good pitchers to close out the middle and back end. Most teams would kill for that, yet the Mets and a segment of fans is willing to blow that up. The team needs good bats and an additional arm in the pen. We're not having this discussion if Alderson did the latter the right way.
