First 20 minutes I thought the dialogue was corny. It's a lot of that quirky banter black dialogue everybody tries to do these days

As the movie goes on the good outweighs the bad and it ends up being a great adventure/Scooby Doo mystery movie. Boyega's character being so serious and quiet is good for balancing Foxx and Parish's energy

The ending actually left me optimistic because it looked like they were setting up the 3 main characters as a team of traveling investigators, which could make for a few good sequels. I'd love to see them solve a few more supernatural fukkery mysteries

But the director said there will be no sequel :francis:
Damn...this is one of very few movies I'd love to see a sequel too. :smh:

Enjoyable movie

The whole ambiguous timeline annoyed me tho
Yeah, this. I didn't like that we don't know exactly what decade it's set in. It's like the 1970s, 1980s, 2000s, and 2020s all in one. I would have preferred if it was set completely (and definitively) in the 1970s. It would have made it more interesting.

Anyway, I liked the movie. 7.5/10. Boyega, Teyonah, and Jamie did their thing.

I do feel that they could have gone deeper with the film in terms of messaging and storyline, though. The ending was also a bit abrupt, IMO.
