Very fun movie :ehh:

It explained a little too much I found at parts but overall I enjoyed it. Wouldn’t call it a cult classic but it definitely will be a “why wasn’t this in theatres/why wasn’t this talked about more?” by the end of the year amongst the Twittersphere.

Dropping this during Barbenheimer weekend was criminal. Such bonehead decision by Netflix.

Obviously 1999 and the 2000s

*plays soulful back that ass up*

The director or somebody said there is no exact timeline. This has been done in film before. It’s done on purpose to signify the general point of the movie could be anywhere or anytime since the 70s. It doesn’t matter what time it is because we been going through the same shyt for decades. Them mentioning bitcoin, 50 cent, and Jamie winning that award in 1995 were a couple blatant points of them showing the time didn’t matter.
Also Im pretty sure I heard these songs get heavy play

Edit: Is it 2023 or 2014. Im still posting some of the same memes/jokes/shyt on thecoli :lupe::damn::mjcry:

The scene where Fontane's in the lab looking at himself, and just unloads the clip on himself...
:francis:

That embodied the self-hatred that a lot of people have. I like movies like this, only gripe was the length being a bit long for the pace of the movie. There was a lot of exposition and dialog to flesh the themes out for viewers, I would not have been mad if the film was more ambiguous to viewers with less dialog basically explaining the main points at various points.

I get it however and I understand the approach.

First 20 minutes I thought the dialogue was corny. It's a lot of that quirky banter black dialogue everybody tries to do these days

As the movie goes on the good outweighs the bad and it ends up being a great adventure/Scooby Doo mystery movie. Boyega's character being so serious and quiet is good for balancing Foxx and Parish's energy

The ending actually left me optimistic because it looked like they were setting up the 3 main characters as a team of traveling investigators, which could make for a few good sequels. I'd love to see them solve a few more supernatural fukkery mysteries

But the director said there will be no sequel :francis:

What's worse is they announced this shyt a year ago and the movie's been done

This would've been a perfect Halloween release

From a business standpoint, really surprised they didn't release this in theaters. They would've made a killing.
