Well they are still from Africa regardless and African Americans denying that their ancestors are from Africa is still rare and not to mention you don't see me going against people putting down the African Americans who deny their African American heritage so you doing all of this is random and useless.

i dont think that is the point, denying your ancestors are from africa is one thing, distancing yourself from africa is another thing

in this very forum people have said they dont want to be called african american because they are not from africa, they arent denying that their ancestors came from africa, but they do not feel comfortable identifying themselves as such, they would rather just be called black or black american instead of african american

but anyways that was the whole reason john singleton put that scene in the movie becuase a lot of african americans try to distance themselves from africa

If your arguing for the existence of such people that's one thing but why you acting like a lot of them exist? We will always have idiots and if you see one of these people then call them out but its not as common as your making it out to be neither is it a reason why Dominicans who distance themselves from africa shouldn't be called out as well.

Like I stated, you would never understand what this white supremest racist structure is about. It has nothing to do with having a victim mentality. Why do you think they call groups a race?. It's because that is what it is, a race to win the control of this world, and the events of it, the past, and the future. Racism is just that, a race to control groups. By claiming a race you are essentially letting people know what group you belong to. I can at least admit I'm part of the losing group, because in order to grow, you have to be truthful to yourself. Once you do that, you can begin to fix things and be a competitor in the race.

You can keep lying to yourself about what you are or what group you belong to, but see where it gets you, and your family.

But it's true. I'm Jamaican and have tons of Caribbean friends. None of whom like to identify themselves as "black" because it usually denotes Black American, and blacks from other countries try to disassociate themselves as far away from Black Americans as possible.

im african, have lived all my life around africans, haitians and jamaicains and ive never come accross someone from either of those cultures tryin to say theyre not black.

black is a universal term for ppl of african heritage(darker skin, nappy hair etc.)

i mean obviously we all have pride for whereever we are from, but being black goes hand-in-hand with it.

You're wasting your finger-typing power with most of these fools. There's been a constant barrage of propaganda to ensure that people associate Africa with disease, ugliness, danger, inhumanity etc. and people have edged those beliefs into their psyche. I've always maintained that people with no INDIVIDUAL pride or accomplishments have to cling on to superficial things they can't control such as ethnicity, nationality etc. Overzealous ethnic pride is one of them problems with the world because one group always wants to see themselves as better than another group. Black and [especially] brown people have fallen for this divisive mindset hard, while the white man sits back like . You'd think muhfukkas would catch on to this, but their too busy waiving flags of countries and repping nationalities that only came into existence a couple hundred years ago. People reppin' these insignificant countries as if they've contributed shyt to the world and have been in existence for thousands of years. When you die, if the only thing people remember you as is if you were Dominican/Haitian/Rican/AA/Mexican/etc. then your life held no meaning and you lost.
