These Color Struck Dominicans Are An Embarrassment

Dominicans say they aren't black, because they have Spanish and Taino blood, but if you ask a Dominican if Obama and Halle Berry(Both have white mothers) are black, they will say yes. So they aren't consistent at all. Why give two different answers? What's the difference?

There's Dominicans with very little African roots in them
There's dominican cities where everybody is blonde haired/blue eyed

Obamas father was born in Africa

My father was born in Dominican Republic
So was his father and his father

My ancestors come from Africa and Spain

I don't consider myself black, white or a spaniard

I consider myself dominican

What Black Dominicans mean when they say they are not black....They really mean they are not Black as in they are not African Americans. I had this same discussion with my brother in law, and I was like what you mean you not black? That's why their response is always I'm Dominican...I'm not black. The Nationality is what they rep. I was like ooooh.

But in all honesty I know a lot of African, and Haitians do this too...Haitian parents will tell they kids don't act like those black kids...you are Haitian. Moms use to tell me that ish too.

Naaah that may be the case for some Dominicans, but I've had class on Dominican history with a class with about 30 Dominicans and when the professor told them they were the descendants of African slaves the reaction was Some of them knew about their ancestry but for the most part it was new information and these guys were around 20 or 21 years of age.

So your saying that they want to feel better about themselves by acting like they are better than African Americans?

I guess if they want to attention whore or feel special I could see them doing that but its still a stupid thing for them to do.

It's not just Dominicans. Some Caribbean nations... some mixed people, etc. We are just more upset about Dominicans doing it because we like their women.

Same way I view white Haitians, they are white. Your race doesn't change because you speak a different language.
