We don't need to kill anybody to celebrate the heritage of our people. To have pride in our unique history. Anybody who has a problem with that is the problem.

Everything black people fought for has been syphoned off to people who had nothing to do with the fighting because we accepted the umbrella of "minority" or "people of color" status with people who already had their own economic and foundational bases that we did not.

We aint all in the same fukkin boat.

Nobodies dumb enough to not understand that.

Its awareness the average black person I guess isn't supposed to have.

Ok. Lets say the census in 2020 no longer asks people to check BLACK but rather asks people to check either ADOS or descendants of black immigrants. What next?

Is it your contention that white america is gonna suddenly start giving out privileges and protections to ADOS specifically? You think the only reason we haven't been able to get ahead is because of those black immigrants?

You might need to refresh my memory but I'm pretty sure for most of this country's history we've been the only black people here. And yet despite there being no other minority groups we have never got any specific benefits from the US government over the last 300 years. Slavery ended only so Lincoln could keep the union together. He said himself he didn't care about black people and woulda kept the union together with slavery if he had to. After that we had Jim Crow. Then you had the civil rights movement where the only thing that happened is discrimination went from being overt to covert. The civil rights bill hasn't benefitted us at all but instead has only benefited WHITE WOMEN.

So my question to you is simple: The American government gives you this new designation. They tell all the immigrants black or otherwise to fukk off. What in American history leads to you to believe we're gonna get anything from white folks?

No. And what kind of question is that? Because, I AM PROUD of who I am -- and my ancestors and family -- that correlates to looking down on other Black people?

Do you want me (ADOS) to be ashamed? I know some people think being a descendant of those who were enslaved -- or being a Black American as nothing to be proud of -- but guess what -- I am. Super proud. Doesn't make me better. We are just not the same - we have different cultures, stories experiences, lineage and ethnicities -- and that's OK.

:snoop: Its so sad that its come to this.

There was a time not too long ago when we used to say we were descendants from kings and queens not just slaves. Now we got c00ns like you embracing only the short part of our history where we ever enslaved.

Only in a America would someone like harris be considered black.

And her track record is lacking when it comes to black issues or the issues of working class people, imo sanders despite his issues seems to only reasonable choice.

There's no reasonable choice. Voting is a waste of time for all Americans but especially black people. All these politicians work for the same rich people that have controlled this country for centuries.

I only engaged in this topic to show the stupidity of these ADOS posters. But in reality anyone trying to validate any person running in this election as someone black people should vote for knows nothing.

Like I said many times already, unless you ready to bear arms don't expect anything to ever change.

Old enough. So, Obama would have been elected if he had a non-Black American wife?

You can research this. It's well-documented. Michelle and her lineage/ethnicity and education, background is what helped Obama win the Black American vote.

If his wife was white he would have had a tougher time getting the black female vote. But as long as she was any type of black, black women woulda been good. If his wife was Kamala Harris instead he still woulda been elected. All that mattered was his wife being black. Not that she had to be a black American as you're defining it. If his wife was African he still woulda been easily elected.

This new hating on other black people trend you're pushing did not exist in 2008 or 2012.

So your argument makes no sense. So who is Kamala supposed to serve if you just said someone who isn’t ethnically ADOS can represent you nor could someone who is socialized ADOS but not a descendant. This means she’s has no true place whether here or in Jamaica. What is she supposed to do then?

Kamala would be a Indian Jamaican American. Her Indian identity trumps since that's what her Mom wanted, Jamaican from the father, and then American to show nationality.

Kamala would probably find the best reception among mixed Jamaican Americans or Jamaican americans.

Kinda like how Jamaican Americans or Irish American don't really fit in their respective countries but aren't just American either.

Many parts. I don't know what non-ADOS do. But again - they are elements of our culture -- that we do not share with others. If you are not ADOS - then you don't get that. It's things we do - that others do not do. It's things we eat - others do not eat.

You think our culture is just music -- and it's not.

Music is the easiest part for non-Ados to imitate

So they want to box it in to this parameter

Much harder when you factor in scientific and engineering achievements

be clear. this fighting amongst blacks is exactly what was wanted..for anyone considering to endorse Kamala based on color/ethnicity to reconsider by looking into her parents and lineage.

dont fall for it. they did the same to Obama

if you are going to vote for her based on policy and ability to lead so be it.

color, so be it. But do not allow people who are not black to tell you she's not black enough..

although she may not be Ados, she still inherits the racist stuff that we endure on a daily.

It’s HILARIOUS :mjlol:

Someone is scared of Kamala so they are pushing the whole ADOS thing hard as hell. You’re going to see it ramp up even more

On Twitter you already got bot accounts posting the exact same phrase about her heritage. You got it being spoken in black circles. Then you’ll have what the Republicans want

I’m just laughing at the whole ADOS thing just being divisive. Not seen one actionable and realist action from them.

You guys are doing Trumps work. Well done!:obama:

She may not be a descendant of chattel slavery here in the states but she is still a black woman here in the states. Anyone minimizing her personal experiences regarding racism and prejudice is wrong.

Genetics aside

She acts like a white women doing her best to pander to black people. She has come across awkwardly foreign to black culture at times and it’s cringy

You think our culture is just music -- and it's not.

Where in my post below did I define MY culture as music? You are making up statements to argue with yourself. I used hip hop as an example. I can school you on the food you eat, clothes you wear, history of leadership and more. You are not educated enough to have this discussion cause you dont even know your own history and the influences of black american culture. There are regional differences in culture. The black American experience is not monolithic. New York ados dont automatically relate to country southern ados. Do you automatically relate to the gullah people cause your ados? I'm sure you don't speak creole but they are closer to their slave lineage than you.

There are overarching cultural norms of the black experience that transcend region and location. And you will be hard pressed to find any of those black cultural norms that havent been influenced in some way by non ados black Americans. That includes "black" music, food, etc...

No it doesn't. First of all I'm actually 50% ADOS. But regardless there is much more to the black american experience than racism and discrimination. "black" culture is a major part of the black american experience. And historically black culture has been shaped, defined and molded by both ADOS and NON ADOS Black Americans. There is no separate ADOS specific culture. The two are and have always been intertwined and inseparable. From the ghettos we live and grow up in, to hip hops roots, jazz, art, civil rights leaders and movement etc.. You cant really draw a clean line of separation anywhere and thats the problem with the ADOS argument..

After the fact with revisonist

Black people across the board was voting for him the moment he spoke and saw his mannerism. Especially older black women. It didnt matter, as long a black man was in office. The timing was good money. NO BODY was voting for him because of Michelle.
If anything you need to give credit to the organizations who mobilized young voters who went to all the black colleges and damm near had all the universities voting for him in blocs.

I was in virginia state university in 07-08. My parents are in their 70s now. My siblings are in their 40 nd 50s. Im in my 30s. NOT once was michelle a top factor in any of those demographics of why they voted for Obama..

Stop it.
You're crazy as fukk is you think black women would've voted for Obama if Michelle were white.
