There is not a single rapper who fell off harder than Nas in the history of hiphop (Sage Francis)

I didn't bother looking at his tweets until you mentioned he said something personal. Looks like he says Nas turned out to be a "piece of shyt human". Which is debatable and subjective depending on who you believe, but I'm not god and not eating up everything Cormega,Carmen and Kelis have to say. Nas silence and their determination, doesn't mean Nas is guilty. But as far as what he's mostly saying from a non personal level,is exactly what I said, and he defended Cube before I needed to.I'm liking what this guy is saying here.

"A quick drop off from messiah to meh. Cube can still be Cube. Nas hasn't shown the ability to do what put him on top for decades now. It's not an argument I want to have for every day of my life, so I'll start ignoring the issue again soon. Ha. Happy to vent for now."

He is absolutley right,Cube can still be Cube as we saw with Laugh Now Cry Later. I still see flashes of great Cube and what made Cube great. What made Cube great is not the same thing as what made Nas great. What made Nas great was technical ability and technical ability alone. You can't say the same for Cube or for Jay-Z as a matter of fact, who didn't gain steam based on being a top lyricist. Jay made headway from being one of the slickest rappers in the game,he still does that well. Plus his albums he wants to be good are,the albums that he wants to perform commercially, and are made for money grabs, haven't been so lucky.

and btw, when you factor in Cubes group work,I think he had a stronger run then you are giving him credit for.
when you factor in distant relatives... crtitical acclaim
life is good HIS LAST ALBUM received well by fans and critics... Nas can still be Nas... Usual Suspects, triple beam dream... all display technical abilities you talk about. lol @ can't say the same for cube and Jay-Z. Jay still makes good music but his flow fell off a cliff, you just talking semantics now Jay didn't gain steam based on lyricism but by being a slick rapper? :heh:

Like I said I don't think either you or Sage listened to the music it's pretty clear. Life is good >>>>>> laugh now cry later easily.

on the charts and anywhere else you check.

:ohhh:
Surprised so many people are unfamiliar with Sage Francis. He was a somewhat large name in that internet underground movement of the early 2000s.
I never checked for him, but the videos posted here are hilariously awful :prodigylol:

As for the topic, Nas is definitely a candidate for one of the worst falls offs ever. My vote would go to Prodigy though. :pdahell2:
To have a truly epic fall off, you have to have reached Olympian heights. Eminem never made an album that great, so he’s not in the discussion :yeshrug:
Meanwhile you’ve got Illmatic/IWW Nas going to Nastradamus :pdahell2:
Infamous/HOE era Prodigy going to Infamy :pdahell2:
Death Certificate Cube to We Be Clubbing :pdahell2:

I choose to believe they purposely blocked him from their memories, cause he's pretty forgettable overall. That period of Anticon and the likes rising in the underground in the early 00's was some of the :trash: whiniest shyt I've had the displeasure of hearing.

Laugh Now Cry Later and LIG did the same on the charts first week, not sure overall. And its true,do you think people really loved Jays lyricist ability on Can I Get A,Hard Knock LIfe:mjlol:?The songs that introduced people to Jay that made him pop wasn't what made him hot,his flow wasn't that good either during that Vol1-Vol 3 era. He did alot of simply talking over beats, but in a slick manner over beats not typical to a NYC rapper, and that made him digestable to people outside of NY. His flow is more on a cliff now than it was back then, but thats not why people liked him either way imo.

Critical acclaim doesn't matter, albums being recieved well by fans matters. Im not even arguing I believe this by the way, only saying that the pedestal some Nas fans put him and his albums on I could see someone thinking this. I've seen many people say his first two albums are top 3 of all time. Being that I have heard his work,I can say the rest of his albums are nowhere near top 3 albums of all time. And I can hear with my own ears the drop off in technical ability.

But like I said,I don't hold Nas all that high as an emcee or his first two albums. So I agree he has made some enjoyable work since then.

That said, Nas' discography looks really funny in the light barring the classics

Illmatic - Excellent/Classic
IWW - Excellent
Stillmatic - Excellent
Lost Tapes - Excellent
Life Is Good - Very dope/Excellent

God's Son - Solid
Street's Disciple - Solid
HHID - Ehh/Solid
Untitled - Solid

I Am - Ehh
Nastradamus - Ehh

Any artist with 4 or more excellent albums in their discography can't be funny in the light, unless of course they wasn't writing the shyt

Stillmatic was cool but time hasn't been too great to a lot of it.

Everything after Lost Tapes is lukewarm.
