Yeah....thats kinda where I have to get off of this train. I'm cool with the characters in the original TWD series not really knowing anything. How could they? They aren't scientists. The most they could know is what they observe and even the guy at the CDC didn't know much. So I'm cool with them plodding along aimlessly trying to find their place in the world infested by this disease that brings the dead back to life.
I was HOPING, and I'll admit it's my fault for doing that, that any new series would explore the origins, the cause and the cure. Not saying that they necessarily had to find a cure, or patient zero, or whatever else. But I figured they were making a spinoff in order to explore the avenues that they couldn't explore in the original series. I THOUGHT, again.....my fault, that whoever the story was centered around, they'd have some idea of how things began and were actively working with their own survival group to do what they could for humanity. They would have their own adventures due to their different location and purpose, yet still run into some of the same pitfalls both physically and psychologically that Rick's group does. Based on the quoted piece, it seems that in this spinoff, the characters are just as clueless as Rick Grimes and company and it's just another group in another location with the same problems. And if that really is the case, that sounds like simply a money grab. My enthusiasm for the show has officially waned. I'll pass.
