So what is the point of the conference title games now????

Leagues rescheduled their entire seasons over conference title games to avoid controversy and get proper auto bcs bids

But what's the point now?

I'd rather be an 11-1 conference "third place" team than and 10-2 conference winner

If michigan is 11-1 faces Penn State is 10-2, and ohio state is 11-1 with only loss to michigan....and penn state wins...do all 3 of these 11 win teams get fukked?

Last year, let's say georgia had beat LSU in a thriller. So georgia is 11-2 and sec champ...lsu is 12-1, alabama is 11-1, and arkansas is 11-2 with only losses to lsu and bama. the other OSU, stanford, are also 1 loss.

You really think okst and stanford will both get the nod???

Nothing is settled on the field, and its even worse now.

location wise the only feasible options is a home game at the upper seeds stadium. most people come into town for college games not live in the city so they would already have to travel twice as it is might as well keep them from having to travel as little as possible

Selection committee? Why does college football always have to be dominated by these bullshyt politics...thats why I cant fukk with the sport like that. Top 4 BCS teams...its not that hard. Anything else will cause a major shytstorm as it should

good point. if they arent using the conferencechamps as automatic bids the games become pointless. but they arent gettin rid of em cuz they make too much money. they'll just cause problems

anytime you have people vote on where teams should be placed you have problems. its what makes cfb so hard to grade because you cant have a huge tournament and you cant get rid of the writers because they provide the "eye test"

Yup.

I want to be clear that my anger or analysis is 100% bias aside..I KNOW that a 13-0 or even 12-1michigan team will get the nod over tons of teams. My problem is the entire discussion about playoffs was so "its settled on the field" but in reality its settled behind closed doors even worse.

Either make it a tournement of champions or just do bowl system and let the bowl agreements settle it.

look at the Harris Poll as proof..the one guy on there who votes Iowa #25 regardless of their record, the voters who vote favorably for teams in their region, or worse, the guys who vote who have no clue what the hell is going on outside the premier games/conferences...that shyt will find it's way behind close doors at the drop of hat...i give it 2 seasons tops before it goes to shyt

yea i always said that the BCS wasnt that bad. a playoff will have the same issues as the current system. might as well leave it alone but people want a playoff even tho they dont have the foresight to see the problems that will arise

theyres always gonna be problems or teams complaining no matter what the structure is thats not the point..the point is having a playoff would make cfb more exciting..

It makes more postseason games mean something..right now its one game that means something and 85 meaningless bowls

That's why i think 8 teams would be perfect but i guess you have to crawl before u walk

That doesn't make sense. People were already going to go to the bowl games, which the semifinals will replace. You'll have fans & casual fans fill up stadiums for both semifinals games & the championship game, just like they do for The Final Four.

I don't see how conference championship games become pointless. If anything they'll bolster the bid for a team to be in the top 4 if they win their conference.

It's funny that y'all are crying about college football finally putting together a playoff system after years of crying for one. This new system is a win-win for the sport & it's fans. A champion will be determined on the field, not by a computer. Stop crying
