Yeah Colombia is different beast, dude mentioned Cartagena of all places :mjlol:

I’d be cool with having a vacation home their, but nothing serious. I wouldn’t rent it out either. In Colombia you gotta move a certain way, at all times.

Only place livable for me in South America is Uruguay. Low crime and beautiful real estate. If you’re an American and want to keep the same social security net/infrastructure/amenities then Uruguay is only choice.

It’s just not lit and not a prostitution destination

I never looked at it as just sitting on some beach everyday til you die. I look at retirement simply as not having to go to a 9-5 you hate just for bills. Once you retired you should have the time and freedom to do whatever tf you want. whether thats charity, another business, playing with your grandkids all day, whatever is up to you

I don't think that's most people's idea of ideal retirement. Sure later in life you travel more and chill more. But I don't think people see retirement as a time to start a second business or work another job.
Also, if you work in a field you love, or are actually doing the thing you want to do...why stop?

I don't want to truly retire, but my ability to take a reduced schedule at 65 is seemingly diminishing. My mom is 72 and still works 50 hours a week. My mom made a decent living and I do too. She just made dumb financial mistakes that I am repeating. I'm 38, so I have some time to course correct.

It's a free for all on the working class. These Banks and Companies putting the working class so far in debt, aint no way we retiring. Owning a home is pretty much unobtainable to most people. And you need to have your home paid off to retire.

401k plans are so shaky. It's going to be very sad in about 20 years when all the 70s and 80s babies hit 60 and 70 mostly broke.

Yep and most of the folks I know who retired never did shyt but sit around because they were too old. I get how it is supposed to work but from that standpoint it comes across as a scam. Shout out to the folks I know who went on cruises and traveled. They made it look fun!
That can happen when you work too long.

If you're the type that bosses never liked, especially when working around mostly White people, and you always felt your job was being threatened either directly, or indirectly, then you will always be glad you retired, and the earlier the better. A lot of us expire before Early Retirement Age because of the stress.
