forgot about Cassius Clay, the true Godfather of Rap.

Might as well throw James Brown in the mix

hey op, how about you find your father if you're looking for a father figure :manny:

My pops is sitting on the couch in the living room watching whatevers on TV. He's in his living room. I'm assuming he's in the living room cuz thats where he mostly stays at his age.

Isnt that what entertainment is? Cater to ENTERTAIN your audience?

:pachaha: @ this nikka lookign for a father figure in music.

Of course that what entertainment is.....But did u forget that at one point Hip Hop had this "responsible for my action" figures? Slick Rick spoke of killing a man and selling drugs but then going to prison and getting raped after it was all said and done. Rakim spoke about getting juice by all means and then having that same rep of having juice being the reason he was laying in a puddle of his own blood after being set up. If the so called culture goes from showing responsibility to showing irresponsibilty then dont look at me funny when I call it out. Basically u are co signing whoring oneself.....which then forces me to question your own limits and how far you'd go to get a dollar.

nikkas dissing TI?

have yall ever watched that show? nikka be on there on his job

this^^^ plus every album he's made has had some song spitting some real shyt about trying to get away from that trap life & discouraging it. dude definitely fukked up on his parole issues, but he aint a clown.

TS  not naming Cube :pacspit: dude been trill

TI a father figure? Yeah right...The man who said the next man has a soft six while he has hard nine on a popular song about beating the p*ssy up??

Please dont make me chuckle with Cube.....Cube went from 'Burn Hollywood Burn' to making movies about adolecesent acting men in Friday sequels. Remember when Cube didnt know if he wanted to be a Crip or not? Did u see that trash Lottery Ticket? Eeek. Ice Cube should have made Hidden Colors waaaaaaay before Tariq Nasheed....Instead he makes Lottery Ticket...LOL Thats a father figure image in your opinion?

There is a big difference between music influencing a style of dress or language and a hip hop artist raising kids.

That is like saying famous movie stars are also father figures that help raise children.

@Tom not going down that route but hip hop is enjoyed by all races

You are a fool. Did u not see the popularity of molly last year? Did u not see the most popular rappers promoting that poison? Did u pay attention to the molly statistics and how it increased the same year Hip Hop was promoting it?? And thats just molly....I can go on and on.....U are a complete fool if u dont think these kids are being raised by rappers. Asaps pops named his son Rakim. Stop it.

if i have a kid and a rapper is raising my child, i've failed as a parent.

punk music influences emo kids to cut themselves and experiment with a variety of drugs. why aren't you calling punk rockers bad father figures?:troll:

This isnt a punk rock messageboard.

Lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Yoooo. WTF is this? This HAS to be trolling. nikka, who the fukk looks to celebrities as father figures? Do u have ZERO male influence in ur family? WTF? :russ:

umm pretty sure people listen to rap for the music breh... not for something missing from their lifes .. thats pretty dam sad if otherwise

You two totally missed the point. You are defending the problem instead of focusing on the problem. You defend it by saying that the irresponsiblity that does exist shouldnt be acknowledged as an influence when it is. I'm not saying one should look for father figures in Hip Hop....I'm saying that Hip Hop is so reckless that its maturity level is that of a 17 year old. When Rick Ross at 37 acts like a 17 year old and I call it for what it is...Then thats just me calling it what it is.

i don't know about the father figure stuff but ''HipHops maturity level is that of a 17 y/o'' is absolutely accurate but you know cats will automatically deny & deflect any criticism of their culture no matter how valid.

According to them Rick Ross music is just a reflection of society :heh:

Do you know that Extasy/MDMA was more popular in the 90s and 2000s when people were going to raves? It died out for a while then caught popularity again...you know what else got popular the last few years? Electronic Dance Music and raves...the same shyt that fueled it the first time. Drugs were around before Hip Hop and if Hip Hop was to cease to exist tomorrow, people would still smoke weed/pop pills/etc.

When rappers were promoting better messages, like lets say Grandmaster Flash making an anthem about NOT doing coke in the 80s, did people stop? No. When Kanye West made Jesus Walks did people all the sudden go to church?

Bradley Cooper 38 years old still making movies about getting drunk and blacking out.
What will young white boys think :troll:

The white psyche in America and the Black psyche in America are very different.

You totally missed the point.

I mentioned Lottery Ticket not because its a kid movie but because it was a bad movie. Garbage....wack....trash. Did u see First Sunday? Eek! 21 Jumpstreet was ok tho. But to watch Cube in a comedy with two white boys as lead when he was so against the devil in the 90's makes me look at Cube as a hustler, ,Not neccessarily a father figure. Cube compromised his pro Black talk to do comedy with Whiteboys. So whats the message sent? Yeah down with Whitey that is until I get a budget to do this movie with Whitey.

Why would someone look to any type of music for a 'father figure' ?

Deaded this thread so fast... :wow: :stylin:

THIS IS ENTERTAINMENT.

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR ROLE MODELS IN RAP MUSIC, YOU ALREADY LOST AND YOUR COMMUNITY HAS FAILED IN RAISING YOU.

Its precisely that I consider myself well educated and a person of means to take care of myself that I can enjoy bullshyt music. I know better and I don't take it seriously.

Stop complaining about free speech, a concept rap music was BUILT on if you are going to bytch when they put stuff out you don't like.

why are u bringing up extacy? I actually went to clubs like Amnesia, The Tunnel, The Palladium and Limelight in 94 and 95. Extacy was part of the NY club life in the mid 90's u aint saying anything. Extacy and Molly are two different things.

Your last examples are terrible. Grand Master Flash was big in Hip Hop...Not so much in pop music...Big difference. You heard Flash on Hip Hop stations back in the 80's....Not the top 40 stations. Larry Love was played by Red Alert...Not Z100. So it aint like Flash had the atention of pop culture in the early 80's. That Kanye question is a question that cant even be answered.

why do u people keep making this weak response totally overlooking that this rap sh*t is raising the babies. I can count the numerous rappers who have admitted to being influenced by rappers positively and negatively so dont give me that nonsense about why would anyone look at rappers as father figures. They are father figures wether you want to admit it or not. I'll even prove it....Pac made it seem ok to be a man who brags about sleeping with another mans wife to the public......Thats not what real men do.....thats what immature boys do.....That kind of action can get a person killed....But then look at Jay Z....he does the same thing cuz Pac does with Nas' wife because Pac was such a strong influence......Wayne not to long ago did the same thing to Chris Bosh's wife then claimed to be the new Pac......Are we really going to deny all the babies in the urban communities of the world that Pac influenced and raised??

They are not really that far apart breh. Estasy is MDMA cut with other drugs in a pill, Molly is straight MDMA in powder form. Stop acting like its weed vs heroin. I've done both, you get similar effects, unless you were taking real shyt E pills.

On top of that, for this argument here, drug use is drug use right? So you are saying in the 90s, when rappers weren't promoting drugs as heavy, people were still doing them heavy? Kinda fukks up your whole argument.....

How is the example terrible? The song has been popular for 20+ years. It was played in clubs all across the country. That shyt still gets spins from time to time. Millions of people have heard the song. MILLIONS. If it has such a holding effect on people, it should have got people to 'DONT DO IT!' right?

Most of these people have issues. Deficiencies, if you will. These deficiencies are then spread through the music almost like an airborne disease. Ceteris Parabus, those who listen to this music are worst off. This deficiency is likely one of many factors aiding to our self-destruction.
