And no, if the percentages were greater...say even 10% of people, then there would have to be a societal conversation. I don't have beef with trans folk.

I also don't think about them nonstop even though I regularly interact with a couple and have met quite a few the past 8 years.

The distinction I am making is there are people never meeting transfolk who base their votes on something that does not effect them.

the commercials were OD, any time I was watching games on saturday you'd see at least one every commercial break. I was talking to a friend about it and he mentioned they were running them on youtube ads too. I think it would be naive to just dismiss how easy it is to make it a hot button issue to galvanize the republican base

I also wanna bring up how it is that any mention of policy or support of black people is met with resistance or nervousness. being scared that bringing up black people's concerns in the singular will drive people away so they hide behind "POC", "minorities", and a rising tide raises all boats rhetoric to make it more palatable, but are beating their chest about lgbtq issues. don't seem to be afraid to lose voting bases from their singled out support of them

Yup, while she was blown out, it was more about losing by small margins everywhere, rather than by large amounts in a few places. There were multiple paths for her to win but yea…elections are won and lost ob small margins. The hate campaign and the ghost of inflation did her in.

I'm kinda surprised by inflation doing her in.

Gas was 5 dollars a gallon in 2022 and inflation was hot, yet the GOP stunk it up in the midterms.

Now gas is under 3 dollars and inflation is at a healthy level, and the GOP wins in a landslide. I think there's really just something about that fat old felon that mesmerizes people and is hard for the Dems to beat.

The same reason we pay for mental and physical health of prisoners. Gender affirming care keeps those with dysphoria from further mental decline and self-harm. If prison is rehabilitation, punishing them outside of incarceration is not necessary. They are already doing their time. We fund it, which won't even be a drop in the bucket of money spent on prisons, and allow them to live out their sentence as they want in hopes they come out somewhat well adjusted and ready to rejoin society.


If your point is "punish punish punish" then I ain't with that. Now stop zeroing in on those folks. There are real issues.
