There’s an old interview Zears Miles did years and years ago called “why go back to Africa” or something like that. One of the homies posted it on l2h at least 5-6 years ago. I have the link somewhere I’ll post it when I find it.

It talks about just a couple of the global industries that would collapse without the free access to African minerals. And Sara suten seti did a presentation called the military geography of Africa some years ago where he went into the continents ability to self sustain.

Oh I’m not talking about caring. I’m talking about reality.

America's Growing Reliance on African Energy Resources

This. A lot of coltan and other crucial materials in the central part of Africa that are essential to the creation of laptops, PCs, smartphones, and video game consoles. An isolated Africa would destabilize the world economy in a way that would make the Great Depression look like basic child’s play.

More than possible, but currently improbable. For one thing the tribal structures don't allow for it. You'd have to decentralize a lot of the decision making, make it more fluid, with redundancies built in. Otherwise it would be just another series of Gaddafis.

All the resources in the world won't matter if you're not prepared to defend it.

1. it wont happen because africa doesnt have the military force necessary to defend itself, see Japan Milestones: 1830–1860 - Office of the Historian

2. This notion of african resources needs to be put in perspective, a lot of black people get this wrong
a) Those minerals are only worth something now because there are used in technology. The real problem with minerals is that africa doesnt have the infrastructure to make the technologies, until that happens it would be pointless to close off the continent
b) resources is the worst way to make money in the global economy because the global economy is based on knowledge. if you have knowledge to make a cell phone (as an example) you will always be richer than the person selling you the parts. Even if africa raised its praises (for example 100 dollars per pound instead of 1 dollar per pound) the cell phone makers would simply increase the prices to 2000 dollars. (I'm just throwing out numbers, but I hope people get the point). Minerals are a small part of making a cell phone. Right now africa doesnt have the scientists, engineers, trained workers, factories and transportation system to deliver a cell phone to the masses, thats why Africa is poor, its not because cell phone makers are robbing africa.

So to answer the question, closing africa would leave Africa behind because Africa doesnt have the infrastructure to provide modern technologies to itself

3. if countries like the US and China closed themselves off they would suffer an economic collapse, im not seeing what would africa gain from closing itself of. It would immediately make all its resources worthless since they are valuable only in terms of the global economy. the pennies it makes from its resources would be gone and there would be nothing else

I envisioned this devaluing of the resources. But I think this would benefit the continent. The assumption is that they need those technologies bug they actually don’t. They don’t get to benefit from them anyway. We are the ones who actually need them for our industries.

If they closed their borders they could focus more on other infrastructures like agriculture and city development and be self sustaining.

I definitely agree with the military force pojnt

well that just brings up another point, i highly doubt you would find many africans that would suggest they dont need technology and should just focus on agriculture, you will have no takers on that LOL

plus you do realize africans not being concerned with technology and minding their own business is why africa was colonized and its people (us) taken into slavery

no offense but your ideas are really a sign of weakness and defeat, to me it sounds like a way for black people to avoid confronting whites and asians mano a mano in terms of military and technology. I have a better idea, why dont africans focus on developing militarily, and technologically to equal the east and the west

instead of thinking in a defeated manner why dont you try and figure out how africans can put more satellites into space, getting a nuclear sub and developing new weapons etc

@Booksnrain has a point though. Ain't no point in sending satellites into space if people ain't eating enough. Not one country on Earth has sustained sufficient development itself without first dealing with basic needs : food, shelter, education, health. Anyways you ain't gonna "catch up" with the West, since it's the West that created the scale and has a 500 year headstart and got to where it is thanks to slavery, colonization and mass plundering of the world. Even though some still believe it's due to western "genius" lol. Africa's just won't be able to go the same route. And trying to do so (or rather, being forced to do so by the IMF, World Bank, Paris, Washington, the EU, etc) has led to what we see now.

actually what you are saying provably false, india has as many impoverished if not more than africa and it has put satellites into space. China and Japan have both caught up with the west. so nah neither of you have a point. you just have defeatist attitude and are trying to find safe space from the white man

africans will never be safe unless they or we develop militarily and technologically so that is what black people should focus on

With the way the environment is going NOBODY will have a choice. Lol! But Africa stands uniquely poised to thrive under these conditions b/c many communities haven’t let their sustainable roots go.

It’s not defeatist. I think the west has a skewed vision of progress equaling more, more, more which is why our planet is fukked as is.

In order to get a good military it will need to consolidate resources for itself.

Nah that's never going to happen, if you want to fight for the environment you should stay in the west and fight it there don't be a coward by running to Africa

Africans want to develop so the environment will get worse before it gets better, Africans have no interest in your ideas
