Punitive damages and “pain and suffering” don’t really have to be quantified. The tape alone is enough evidence to make a case for either of those things.

Well, yeah, I meant civil. It was established the night it happened he wasn't pressing criminal charges. I still don't think he'll sue. I wouldn't care but folks would just see it as one obscenely rich dude suing another (of course he aint got Will Smith bread but still). And a lot of black people probably wouldn't like the idea for obvious reasons. And then there's the segment of people who believe the "Will was protecting m'lady" bullshyt. So no I don't think he wants to take the hit (pun intended) to his image when he's already being seen as the victim/good guy by a lot of folks.
I agree with you. Will Smith looks worse in most reasonable peoples eyes. I'm just pointing out why I think it's unlikely. How much money does he really stand to gain from a lawsuit versus the boon to his career this incident has already been? Tickets sales are up etc. Hell, the bag from his next Netflix or HBO special alone is about to be insane.

The thing is even if people knew it was staged for sure. They would totally ignore that and just going on and on as if it was real. Like people talking about the latest episode of your favorite show. You know it’s fake but you talk about it like it’s real.

Will has to lay low for a bit. People won't forget, but they will stop caring as time goes on. Celebs have come back from worse(Mel Gibson, Chris Brown.etc), and people claim they hate "cancel culture", so this may not have much of a lingering effect. Then again, we all know the rules are different for Black men and people so we'll see.

I agree, but this is Chris Rock. He doesn't move like every other nikka. I wouldn't be surprised if they have already contacted each other and hashed out their differences. We probably won't get a statement for a while.
