finishing season 1 and its kinda mid... I do like the premise tho, so I think I might pickup the books instead.

*edit

Started ep1 of season 2 and im out....instead I'm halfway through the New Spring book. I've thrown the tv series in the bushes.

*edit 2

The books are fire...I understand why nikkas are furious in this thread :russ:

Whether good or bad—season one at least moved a story forward. I gave season two a chance because people seemed to like it in this thread, but the story just meanders in season two. Season two relies on so many conventional writing tropes: oh no the shady person is evil, oh no everyone everyone is scattered to the wind, oh no someone got captured and we gotta save ‘em, oh no another shady person is shady, and so on.

Characters like Nynaeve in this show also irritate the shyt outta me. I think the actress is bad, but beyond that she’s the powerless powered person trope and it’s dull and uninspired.

5/10 season rating from me.

Considering Wheel of Time is the most generic mashup of every fantasy/chosen one cliche and trope you can think of, there was nothing that they could've done to change that aspect of it with it being something completely different. There's nothing deeper to look into, it's just a fun, simple Final Battle story with a gazillion characters, a long journey (half of them only to meet new characters) and a greater world to delve into.

Nynaeve and Mat are the 2 that's the most faithful to their book counterparts. If you don't like her at this point, nothing will change that going forward.
