Strider (reboot not original)

I don't know how others feel but I've never been a fan of the 3d assets in 2d side scrollers look. It's always been gaudy to me.

It doesn't help matter that the actual art direction is pretty mediocre. It goes for a cyber punk aesthetic but it just looks drab and gross.

However I did enjoy the players animations and the different colours of different sword powers you get.

The story is complete nonsense and I'm. Not even sure why they bothered having any cut scenes or dialogue since it's so bad.

It's a metrodvania but honestly the level design is very lacking. Compared to a game like guacamelee it's just not up to snuff. In fact the game I felt would have benefited from just having levels.

Another issue I had is theirs no combo meter or anything of the like and this is a game that is screaming for it.

The bosses are acceptable but honestly I never felt the game was challenging.

However the game play was fun. Moment to moment I never felt like I wasn't enjoying myself. In fact I started and beat it in the same day, around 5 hours total play time for me.

There's a fun game in here its just dressed up in a lot of mediocrity and ugly designs.

Started playing anno2205 again...I bought the DLC for the game and didn't even know it...

shyt's kind of tedious but for some reason I can't stop playing it...

DLC is supposed to help boost all your buildings...except that time you get to a level where you can complete it if you manage your corporation and resources right you don't need it...

Battlefield Hardline (Campaign)
Battlefield_Hardline.jpg

It was refreshing playing a battlefield campaign that some effort went into again. It's been a while. And the concept for this one had me excited since I think playing as cops can be fun and isn't covered enough in games. The dev being visceral also helps since I love the Dead Space games.

However as much I wanted to love this game I didn't. It had all the pieces and yet it never quite comes together. It flashes here and there sure, hinting at potential but it never hits it's stride.

The stealth is just, odd. It makes no sense that just because I flash a badge and gun a criminal is going to just throw his hands up and surrender and not alert the 10 other bad guys around. And even further why would 3 guys just throw their hands up and let me handcuff them 1 by 1. I played on the highest difficulty and the stealth broke the game for me as well because it made the game incredibly easy. It's also just not a fun mechanic and doesn't mesh with the type of game this sells itself as.

The gunplay itself is fun,but theirs simply not enough of it. The story which I'll expand on in a moment sells itself a Hollywood cop action film but theirs just no real interesting set pieces. The gun battles are scarce and frankly easy.

The vehicle sections are terrible. They want to be blockbuster status but their D list seagall netflix status.

The story itself is just nonsense. Characters go from good to bad to good to bad I couldn't even keep track of the double crosses that go to seemingly quintuple crosses. The voice acting and cut scenes have the budget and talent but the writing is painfully bad. It comes off as someone who watches bad action films all day but has no talent. It's really disappointing coming from dead space which had such subtle nuance in horror.

That said, I didn't hate the game. I just found myself thinking so often, man, this concept is stuck in shyt execution. This could be amazing but it's aggressively mediocre.

The best mission I thought was taking place in the hurricane. Moments like that made me enjoy my time,at least at times. I kinda hope this gets a sequel but with a fresh set of talent on it. Maybe fps just isn't in visceral warehouse.

Still playing 'Oreshika' on my Vita. I swear they fukked up the difficulty on this game hardcore, 99% of the game is too easy, but then there are some story boss battles they are nigh on impossible.

Finished Injustice:Gods Among Us (Story Mode)

Injustice-Gods-Among-Us-Ultimate-Edition-PlayStation-4.png

I'm not into the fighter genre so that's probably why I'm just playing this now. I am however a comic geek.

So when I first started this I was :krs: . The way that the fights blended perfectly into the the story was great to me. The story itself is cool. It's not great but it is interesting and seeing supes killing is :ohlawd:. It's funny though I leven though this wasn't that long, ~ 5-6 hours it still dragged on.

The story and writing, while it has a good concept just can't seem to let anything breathe and instead just wants to rush you into the next fight. With a sequel coming I hope they flesh out the sort and cut scenes. I feel like they could have added an hour or so of cut scenes into to flesh things out and give more weight to the fights. As is I was went from :ooh: to :ld: about 3/4 of the way then it picked up at the end.

As I said I'm not into the genre so my thoughts on fighting mechanics aren't worth hearing. I had fun with the game play. I wish their was more than 1 special move per character though because the animations for each had me :whew:
