OscAr noms been coming out for years and movies in limited dec release get january wide releases all the time. What Sniper did is unprecedented. Not even Titanic on its huge run to the oscars had a weekend like this. Only thing I can think of is lots of "Merica" country areas flocked to see this bc it resonates with Lotta them. And honestly it's a great flick if you ask me.

The noms def helped but I wouldn't say we're the big reason behind it. These numbers are absurd. Good for Clint tho I'm happy to see him have a weekend like this for his career.

American Sniper is a tribute to the American army in general and Middle America's idea of a real American hero in particular, made by one of their most beloved film heroes, coming off a shytload of Oscar nominations. 'Murica was bound to eat this shyt up.

Yeah, those numbers for Tomorrowland aren't great :francis:. I think it might have suffered from people not really knowing what the film was about and the mediocre reviews haven't helped.
