Ryan Coogler's Sinners is currently having one of the craziest 2nd weekend box office total in film history (Brehs could contribute if they go see it)

My short review/experience

I actually forgot what this movie was about when starting so i literally had no idea what to expect. Forgot it was a period piece and forgot it was about vampires.
I was enjoying it, and after about 40 minutes in i was i like oh so this is just going to be a black version of OH brother where art thou? Thats cool i liked that movie, this will probably have better music. Suddenly vampires start showing up and now its a crazy quentin tarantino violence movie. I'm like oh shyt, i forgot this is a horror movie. :mjlol:
But i actually liked that they took the time to set up everything and get you familiar with everyone before starting. Overall the acting was great, of course when you look at the cast.
It's been a while since i've seen an original vampire horror film. Modern films often treat vampires like an action movie genre or romance. No hate to blade or Underworld or twilight or stuff like that. but they aren't horror films. So this was a refreshing return to origins while being wholly original.

The music scene in the juke joint where the music touches the souls of your ancestors from the past. and descendents from the future was a work of art. Feel like if i could bottle that scene and display it in my house like a painting i would. Someone needs to make that happen. be like the famed sugar shack painting but with different generations

10/10 Instant classic

Ryan Coogler is 5 for 5. All of his directed films have been great.

It's official the numbers went up. 45.65 Million for a 5% Drop. If it drops 5% again next week, that would be another 40 Million. But the odds of that are low but you never know again word of mouth is good and has turned this into a must see on the big screen. They are reporting more sellouts on Monday. Again a Comic Book movie 'Thuderbolts" drops next week so obviously that will attract audiences being a Marvel movie but again that group aren't as popular or known superheroes. I could see "Sinners" have another amazing hold for the 3rd week.

Eh, I didn't like BP2, I know he had to pivot away from what he wanted to do but I wasn't a fan. It wasn't terrible, but not something I planeed to come back to. I'll give it another watch to see if my mind has changed.

You like most MCU fans. had an idea for the movie already written in your head. and when they don't make that movie, they disqualify it as bad. But don't say why its bad other than its not the movie they would have made.

To me that is creative differences, not an actual critique of the film. BP2 got great reviews. not recasting chadwick doesn't mean the movie was bad. just means you didn't get what you want.
