I remember guys in middle school saying big l was their fav rapper at around the time of the big picture/ebonics.

I didnt even kno eminem shouTed L out.

Thats like saying redman finally went platinum cuz eminem named him his favorite rapper which is all kinda of wrong.

Premier/Gangstar giving him an RIP at the beginning of Full Clip....not only was it big on BET but that is around the time when people started ripping videos and uploading them...

Big L was on TONS of Prizer Fighter Remixes that circulated napster, kazaa, bearshare, etc.

When Deadly Combination came out, around when Pac had been dead and all those songs/remixes ended up coming out, it was big.

Big L took Lord Finesse's style to another level, that's why he's more widely regarded than him. Finesse is dope no doubt, but L was even wittier and Finesse never switched up that old school flow.

Yeah, Finesse's punchlines are a little too on the nose and elaborate, plus he relies way too much on similes and "that's like ___ without ___".

Although he still has one of my favorite all-time punchlines, where even if I'm not paying attention to the song, as soon as I hear the first couple of words I immediately know it's coming: "You could have a freak on a Ferris Wheel...AND STILL COULDN'T fukk AROUND!"
