Russ back on a hometown discount.:blessed: Acquired KJ Martin which I love. We're slowly starting to get younger and more athletic. Still need to move Morris Sr. and probably Norm. Team is looking good tho. Getting Harden or not is whatever. Not trippin either way. If we could only get 60+ games from Kawhi we could be on to something:wow:

Just shaking my head at how much of a waste of time the Wall shyt was. The team would have been better keeping Hartenstein.

The Kawhi/PG shyt is on its last legs (no pun intended) but I still believe it was more or less the right move. Maybe choosing PG to be the co-star was a mistake. The dude seems way too content to float during a lot of games and say that it's Kawhi's team. I wish we had someone that was more of a dog. Of the names that were reported; KD, Kyrie, PG, and Jimmy whom Kawhi reached out to PG was the best/most realistic option. KD wasn't going to happen, Kyrie was not worth the headache, and I don't think Jimmy wants to join the guy that just eliminated him from playoffs. But a Kawhi-Jimmy combo would have been fun to see.

As far as Shai is concerned they'd still be ringless with him too because Kawhi and Shai teaming up wasn't an option. It was you build slowly with Shai and throw Kawhi in the bushes after courting him all year or you do whatever it takes to get Kawhi.

My preference would be to keep Mann, but if Lue is not going to play him and that's what holding up the deal then ship him out. I think they should negotiate in good faith with Kawhi/PG. Preference would be a contract that does not go past 2027. So, ideally a three-year or two-year deal. i think PG would work with the team but it's impossible to know what Kawhi will do.

Paul GeorgeNeeds to be healthy and less content being Kawhi's Robin. Needs more dog.
Kawhi LeonardNeeds to be healthy.
Norman PowellLikely gone in any trade for Harden. Would love to keep him as he's from San Diego. Needs to be healthy.
Marcus MorrisTrade his ass.
Robert CovingtonDoesn't seem like he ever got a fair shot. Likely gone.
Nicolas BatumWasted the limited years Batum had left. Seems washed.
Ivica ZubacHad kind of a down year but was also hurt. He's going to play hard every night.
Mason PlumleeGood back up.
Amir CoffeyNever really gets any tick so it's hard to know what we have with him. Good roleplayer.
Bones HylandReally brought some juice, pause, to a very old and slow team.
Terance MannNeeds to be given more playing time.
KJ MartinGreat pick up. Doesn't look like he's in pain when he runs or walks in sharp contrast to rest of roster.
Jason PrestonGreat vision, great intangibles, cannot beat anyone off the dribble. I think Marcus Morris would beat him in a foot race.
Brandon Boston JrChucker.
Russell WestbrookWas so down when he signed last year but he really surprised me. He needs to bring the same defensive effort again.
Xavier Moonidc
Moussa Diabateidc
Kobe BrownLooked good. Should probably lose 15-30 lbs. Curious if her can stay in front of NBA athletes.
Jordan MillerDidn't really see a lot of him.

Also Kawhi, Lue, and PG need to shut the fukk up about wanting a point guard. It's pathetic. You guys are two top 20 players and you're crying. You make more than anyone else on the team, do more!

Can’t put anything on PG considering he lead that team out of 2nd round purgatory for the first time ever when they weren’t given much of a shot at that point vs Utah. He’s hurt like Kawhi stay hurt

There were too many games this season where he was just floating. Dude is a great basketball player but he does not have enough of that dog in him. Maybe Russ being there for a full season will put the battery in his back.

Yea, I've said it ad nauseam: the lack of a point guard isn't why they lost to Denver in 2020, or to PHX in 2021, or the disappointments ever since.

Kawhi and PG just need to 1) be healthy and 2) hoop. The whole just rest up for the playoffs and figure things out doesn't work bc they both get hurt towards the end of the season if not in the playoffs regardless.

Position-wise, i'd say your pf situation is more troublesome. Morris trash. Batum washed. RoCo is ok but doesn't move the needle.

I mean…they were regular season games. The issue is these guys don’t/barely play in April

Think Kawhi is going to need to soak up a lot of PF minutes next season. I'd like to see Kobe Brown and Diabate get a shot to see if we have anything. I assume we'll see Martin there too.

This team is not good enough to punt on the regular season. Maybe if they weren't barely out of the play-in every April they'd have a better shot of winning down one guy or two and they'd have a chance to get healthy and come back. Instead, Kawhi has to go super Saiyan to fight off Luka in game 7 playing 46 minutes a game or whatever.

This is another issue. In back-to-back runs 2020 & 2021 Kawhi had to go god-mode just for LAC to survive the first round. Sure, that should be an expectation if you're a top 5 player... but, on the other hand, you can't be getting tripped up to lesser teams in round 1 if you're an allegedly stacked title team.

And if you're truly not a stacked title team, then that means the regular season has to be taken seriously for seeding, chemistry, and all that stuff. To your earlier point, the way PG played in round 2 vs UTA is how he needs to play from jump, where it's more 1a/1b.

Good breakdown and assessment. Yeah Wall was a waste of time but he would've been better if we had Plumlee at the start of the season as Wall works well with a pick n roll big man. The main issue is Kawhi can't stay healthy, especially in the post season. I'll give PG some slack on his statements which usually always don't sound right once the words fumble out of his mouth. Bro did a whole season with Kawhi out and helped lead the team to its first WCF appearance two years ago. Our so called depth was nothing but fools gold. Its time for the youth movement to start up. Move Morris, Norm, and RoCo since Lue isn't going to play him anyways. And with this new CBA you can't have a guy(RoCo) making $12 million a season and riding the bench. Also need to move Morris and Norm who make like $20 million a season and it clears space for Bones, Boston, KJ Martin, and Kobe Brown -watch out for Kobe Brown. He might be the real deal.

Glad Westbrook is back, I don't see Preston making the team and I think Xavier Moon needs to make the roster as the 3rd point guard. It makes more sense having him at the end of the bench than Coffey & RoCo. Agreed on Mann getting his proper due minutes wise. Its a crime how they restrict this guy. Zu is still solid as a starter even tho he was mediocre to downright awful in the playoffs against the Suns this past season. On a side note, outside of trades, we're not actually missing our 1st round picks that we dealt to OKC in the PG trade. I made a thread on it a month ago about how the OKC's, Houston's, Orlando's, etc. are dumping first rounders who still have upside simply because they have to draft a whole new round of players each and every year. OKC has like 30+ picks over the next six years. We got Bones and KJ Martin for almost nothing and they'll be more of that to come each and every season. Going to be interesting to see how the extensions of Kawhi & PG are handled. All this big money on the table now has to motivate these guys to stay relatively healthy and get one more big contract before its all said and done career wise. I like our youngsters though- if we move Morris and Norm then this is the year to see what we really have in Bones, Boston, KJ, and Kobe Brown. Can't wait

That leg snap took a lot out of his game. Plus Lue having him run point was a no go and still is. Russ taking over the point position helps him out tremendously. PG just has to chill on his wording in his comments. But at least he talks unlike our other big dog
