The problem most have is when we vote & that politician does nothing in office. When it’s time to vote again…what happens?

We have never had progressive democrats as a majority in office (Bernie Sanders and AOC types) but you see the difference between republican leadership and democrat leadership on a state level right now based on 1. voter suppression laws 2. access to abortion (even in cases of rape or incest) 3. the ability to protest without it being legal for you to be run over

Or look at Gavin Newsom in California

The gap between red states and blue states is widening, "dont vote" literally makes less sense by the day.
The call should be "vote in state and local elections as well," not just the national presidential one.

While your current governor is decent, MAURA HEALEY is the democrat challenging her and was more vocal in challenging Trump's Muslim ban, wants to improve gun control, and wants to end mandatory sentences for nonviolent drug offenders as well as focusing on treatment. I'd say she's more progressive and the latter two would impact the black community in mass.

TAMI GOUVEIA is running for LT. GOVT and sponsored bills for voting rights, access to education and transportation, and helping out payment standards for parents with dependents.

ANDREA JOY CAMPBELL is running for Attorney General and has experience in public and private sectors providing resources to underserved/minority communities, tackled the school-to-prison pipeline in Massachusetts, and secured some of the city's budget towards youth development.

All 3 of these candidates will be running against more milquetoast/the typical do-nothing democrats in your upcoming primary this September. (Your deadline to register to vote comes up in August so make sure you're registered)

And there's still more positions up that you can impact directly with your vote, since so few people participate in their state's primaries (view the list here):

And if yall don't vote the milquetoast democrats will probably win, and nothing will get done. That's why it's so important to use your voting power to get the most progressive options in, every time. State and local elections.

It does take a little work to research into candidates and see which ones are going to fight for you, but it's easier googling and looking through some webpages than it was for our ancestors to fight for our right to vote in the first place :francis:

I’m familiar with all three candidates, including the platforms they’re running on. I fail to see how any of the policies included within their respective platforms is pro-black, though. Just because black people might benefit from “progressive” legislation doesn’t mean it’s a policy framework that addresses the root causes of our marginalization in society. Andrea Campbell is married to a white man, btw.

Even affirmative action is not pro black so what are you talking about? More white women benefit but it's still a good policy because it has allowed blacks to be represented on lots of companies.

Nothing will get passed in this racist country if it benefits blacks exclusively.
Our choice is to go for candidates whose policies will benefit the most of our people. That's the way it has always been.
