Why would you lose respect for them? Supporting a candidate doesn’t mean you agree with everything they say and do. Regardless of party, race or religion, there will always be things that you agree and disagree with. The perfect candidate doesn’t exist. Now if that’s a dealbreaker for you, then that’s one thing, by what does that have to be the dealbreaker for your parents (unless they’ve separately indicated it was)?
