Thanks @saturn7 for basically saying what's needed. No need to reiterate.

No problem. Even white Liberals are complaining that the Dems are passive in the face of the GOP blatant attacks on everything. Yet nikkas on here love to call somebody MAGA for not just blindly voting for Democrats who refuse to take the gloves off.

I'm talking about since Biden has been elected. Get rid of the 60 vote filibuster in the Senate to pass voting rights, Build Back Better and the rest of their agenda. But on the real they love the gridlock in the Senate. Gives them the excuse they need to not do anything.

Low vibrational conversation. While you're bashing their reason for not getting rid of the filibuster, do you know why it was instituted? Do you know the dangers of removing it? Do you even know what the filibuster is? :gucci:

More weak scared talk.

Do you actually want the Democrats to pass their agenda?

Reproductive Rights Coalition Tells Dems to 'Stop Defending the Filibuster in Our Name'

"While the filibuster has prevented passage of anti-abortion legislation in the past, we are under no illusion that clinging to the filibuster will protect us now."

"We need to fill the seats of power with senators who will fight for abortion access and ensure they are empowered, procedurally, to pass critical abortion and voting rights legislation," the coalition continued. "That means putting every tool back on the table—including filibuster elimination."

How Democrats Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Nuking the Filibuster

There are risks in changing the rules of the Senate, but the party is realizing there's more danger in allowing McConnell to veto most of their agenda

Harry Reid, the former Democratic majority leader, told me it was important that Democrats like Joe Manchin who represent in competitive states be given a chance to negotiate with Republicans. They need to show their constituents, Reid says, that they’re trying to forge compromise. “But I think Joe will come to the conclusion,” Reid adds, “that if Republicans continue to negotiate in bad faith and remain unserious in terms of getting things, Democrats are going to have to act without Republicans.”

In the end, Reid says he believes the filibuster’s days are numbered. “It’s going to go away,” he told me. “It’s only a question of when.”

Nice comment. You made me think of MLK when he talked about white moderates which could be said about Dems today. It's getting to the point where I think they are just playing good cop because it doesn't make any sense of the lack of reaction.

It's scared weak talk to want to know if you understand the things that you are trying to discuss? :mjtf:

If you scurred say you SCURRED.

I know how this goes.

"but but but if we get rid of the 'buster it will make it easier for the Republicans to pass their bills too."
They've already done a bunch of horrible shyt. Dems will never get another 60 Senate seats/

If they actually passed some shyt that benefits people in general, and their base specifically they shouldn't have to worry about the next election cycles.

:jbhmm: I thinking alot of center/moderate right wing democrats who are the real political power within the democrats party are a afraid to do that due to their fear of losing the corporate lobbying money .

Democrats Ask Yellen to Reject Lobbying on Minimum Corporate Ta
(Bloomberg) -- Congressional Democrats are urging the Treasury Department to ignore appeals by lobbyists to weaken the 15% minimum levy on domestic corporations.
Senators Elizabeth Warren, Angus King, Michael Bennett, and Representative Don Beyer, asked Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and her staff to take an aggressive stance against companies that seek carve-outs or other modifications to the minimum levy.

“Strong implementation necessitates standing firm against requests to dilute the regulations in such a way as to undermine the clear intent of the law,” the lawmakers wrote in a letter obtained by Bloomberg News.

“The legislation also makes clear that the starting point for determining the profits subject to the corporate minimum tax are those listed in annual financial statements, most importantly those used for reporting to shareholders, such as a 10-K form.”

The request comes after several modifications were made to the 15% tax on corporations earning at least $1 billion in profits. As the provision moved through Congress, several changes were made to the levy to make it more valuable to manufacturers and private equity companies.

The 15% minimum levy, which was passed as part of Democrat’s Inflation Reduction Act, upends decades-old rules regarding the separations between accounting rules for financial statements and those for tax returns.

The new measure will require corporations to calculate their Internal Revenue Service liabilities using traditional methods, and applying a 15% rate to the profits they report to shareholders and paying whichever is higher.

The Treasury has yet to issue any guidance on the new law, though officials have said it is a priority in the coming months. The levy takes effect in 2023. Groups like the Chamber of Commerce and the Business Roundtable have sought a more business-friendly implementation.

The 15% domestic minimum tax is a separate provision from the 15% global corporate minimum tax that Yellen negotiated last year with approximaty 140 countries. Congress has yet to address the global minimum tax and it’s unclear when lawmakers might do so.

A-1 announces meat-scented candles and Twitter thinks it's deliciously weird video criticizing the lobbying and political funding efforts of Texas grocery chain H-E-B has gone viral, exposing how the grocery store giant shifted its political donations from Democrats to Republicans.
The TikTok, created by Nick Powers, shows the political funding and lobbying history of H-E-B in past election cycles.

Powers said that most Texans love H-E-B but its political donations don’t align with helping a number of people in the community.

While H-E-B’s political donations this election cycle are split evenly between Democrats and Republicans, he noted that in past election cycles H-E-B has funded Democratic candidates more than Republican candidates, meaning it’s shifted of late.

“Most of their issues come from [the Build Back Better Plan],” Powers explained. “They had several lobbying reports about Build Back Better, mostly about taxes, but they also had issues with the Medicaid side of things and the pharmaceutical side of things.”

That’s normally where H-E-B stands when they lobby against bills, advocating against lowering prescription drug prices because H-E-Bs have pharmacies. Powers said that he believes once the Build Back Better plan was introduced, H-E-B reconsidered its lobbying efforts.

“Back when the Build Back Better Act was introduced, they realized the politicians—who they were paying the campaigns for—were going to start signing bills like these into law,” he said. “And as a result, their lobbying stopped working, so they decreased their spending on lobbying and moved it over to [Republican] politicians.”

Now, the company that once funded Democrats is split down the middle.

H-E-B did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but users in the comments weren’t convinced of Powers’ thesis, quick to point out that H-E-B does a lot for the community.

“I think a lot of people love HEB because they provide a lot of the services that the government of Texas is supposed to,” one user wrote.

“HEB shows up for Texans more than any government ever will,” another said.

“I’m a college student and they partner w houston food bank to provide free groceries for students,” another wrote.
