Well then you don't like the majority of the people that raised you if you black. All the people who went thru the real struggles, they like Tyler Perry. Thats his audience. Thats who you are calling c00ns btw. Try to remember that, brotha :birdman:

Excuse me brotha, but After Earth isn't a black movie. It got two dudes working on a white movie, that doesn't make this a movie black people should run out to see. Its hilarious/sad you would even suggest such a thing. Mike, show dis "brotha" what I'm talkin about...

Yeah, lets show our support for Black anything right :snoop:
Meanwhile, somewhere in Baracks home state...

GOP Official Launches Racist Attack Against His Own Black Republican Candidate

And so far After Earth/Old Boy? :blessed: Madea who is the embodiment of the mindset of black people in the struggle? Thats bad :scusthov: I wonder what Brooklynz Son thinks about this :ohhh:

Yeah my family grew up in the deep south and love TP movies and never heard them think of tne as c00nery. It's more of the younger wanna be accepted by white people crowd. Older blacks don't give a fukk about that. They go see the movies, laugh and go home. Funny thing is every character in a TP movies is a reflection of the type of people we all as black people know in real life but I guess they are embarrassed for them to be on the big screen? They will over look the hard working lawyer or doctor in TP's movie and focus solely on the 1 or 2 ratchet characters. Truth is TP has more educated successful black characters than most of the so called black movies these cats praise that are made by white directors. Embrace your people for the good and bad.

Exactly, and these same dudes act like Tyler Perry isn't aware. Like he's just making bread of black ignorance and calling it a day.
Not a single Tyler Perry movie is a c00n fest that ends with no lessons learned. Its the opposite. Madea is just an outlandish character that gets pplz attention. Sadly, attention spans are so limited these days. Its no secret we have a looooong way to go in restoring black pride. Especially since "they" have made it cool to hate yourself. I call these dudes "males with little kim syndrome"

Black films post 2004 are harder to market due to the age of the comic book blockbuster movie. Plus these studios that do occasional risks back in the 90s are no longer doing that shyt anymore. As well as the top black actors are getting old as shyt :scusthov:

I usually agreee with your posts but not on this one bruh. Tyler Perry movies are the LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR of black entertainment. shyt is a minstrel show of buffonnery and c00nishness to the point I couldn't BELIEVE that first Madea movie was so successful. I cringe whenever I hear anybody black or white state their fondness for those films....

His movies are like the Lil Wayne of that industry: pushing out garbage to the point where it dumbs ourselves down.

Yeah I agree. So many people in the black community try so hard to please white people and look acceptable to them but they just don't realize that prejudice won't end with TP or Spike Lee or The Cosby Show. It begins with us loving and embracing one another.

I don't think the support is the case, I feel they just not green lighting movies in general. Name a black movie, I can probably show you support. What else has come out besides TP movies? Four Little Girls (TP again) did well. That movie with the fat black girl.. precious did well. What black movies didn't do well over the last 3 or so years???
red tails is the last movie of its kind that i can remember that flopped...

basically, if it's comedy or some kind of stereotype it can succeed, but if it is the black version of an art or indie film then success is very tenuous. currently fruitvale station is getting a big critical push. that movie won at sundance so it has the weight of the white indie scene behind it. the average black indie isnt going to have that going for it, so pretty much spike is having to go the kickstarter route because complicated black movies that dont fit neatly in a box are not a good bet financially for any studio.

I seen the Tuskegee Airman (excellent movie) and wasn't in a hurry to see Neyo make a remake of that :stopitslime:
This version is the white people version of a black story. Once again, this isn't and never was a black film. You gonna have to try again. It also did 50million at the box office which is a win compared to todays standards. With all the history of black people in the world, white america will have you thinking the only things we did was play sports, make music, tap dance, and if they let us? Participate in "their" wars. Red-Tails is basically a bone they threw at us and you like ":damn: black ppl, you missed your chance!!!"

Miracle at St.Anna was our chance, that movie only grossed 9mil :wow:
But at the same time, why the fukk do we "need a chance" after all these years of making the world go round :rudy:

I thought c00nery meant catering to a white audience at your own embarrassment and ignorance. Them TP plays be on point.

"black film" needs to be defined, then.

i didnt watch red tails either, it didnt look good to me, so all that nonsense you are typing is not getting us anywhere. i dont even know how you are getting all emotional over this, LOL

miracle at st anna is just more proof of my point: complex black movies are too unreliable at the box office for studios to bother, and that's the audience's fault

your last point doesnt make any sense. nobody makes the world go around, and hollywood is a business. if people dont think there is much upside in backing your movie, you will be on kickstarter making appeals to people's artistic sensibilities instead of their moneymaking interests.

If you calling a white film with black characters a black film then you bumped your head. The Tuskegee Airman has always been a fascinating story. The HBO movie did extremely well. Red Tails was white america trying to capitolize on that piece of history, they wasn't concerned with telling that story if they didn't think it would be a quick cash grab. It made 50mil, they claimed they spent 58mil making it which I feel is hollywoods way of lying so they don't have to pay as much taxes or whatever? There is no reason that much money is needed for any movie. You add up the supposed cost of all movies from 2005 to now and we talking 10 trillion dollars. I'm not buying that  But thats off topic...

No its not, because you don't know why that movie didn't do well. You just saying "black ppl can't handle complex" like :what:
That movie wasn't marketed as nothing more than a war movie. The reviews were it was ass. I seen it once it got to video, loved it. Since you can make comments like this, how about you name 3 other "complex" black movies that did or did not do well? I'm doubting you can even name 3 bruh :birdman: If you can't, then you talking out your ass on this topic right here :smh:

Yes, make the world go round. You taking that comment to literal bruh. What I meant is we not new in the game, we don't have to "watch Red Tails or Miracle @ St.Anna" or we "MISSED OUR CHANCE" like if every movie is life or death for black cinema :stopitslime:
White focused movies flop left and right on a weekly basis. I've asked you guys to name black movies that have failed over the last 3yrs (lets make it five) and the only movie I heard mentioned was Miracle @ St. Anna. Oh wait, no I didn't. I mentioned that movie. You guys failed to name a single black movie that didn't do well. So your entire commentary so far makes no sense. I'm not emotional, I'm calmly asking to back up HALF of what you been saying.

I refuse to believe that a dude who has front frow seats at the Knicks games (both home and what seems to be away games too) and almost dresses exclusively in orange and blue :scusthov: needs funds for anything.

Can't talk shyt about the White man then ask them for money Spike

And if he asked for funding from black people like you, how much would you give?

I just don't understand why there isn't a black owned big budget company willing to fund black stories :mindblown:

I don't mean little straight to dvd hood movies either, I mean full blown blockbuster movies. There's more than enough black writers, directors, actors, and millionaires to get this shyt done.

Why do I have to watch lil 5 foot nothing Tom Cruise be an action hero?? It's time to finance, make, and star in big budget films that depict minorities in a good light!

I'm looking at you Will Smith & Jay-Z...fukk that promotional vehicle for Will's daughter (Annie remake). Bring us some EPIC shyt :blessed:.

...and whenever they do come with that good shyt, we gotta go out and support! Show black films other than Tyler Perry movies and turn a profit.

Because black people would go out of their way to not support it. Reading through this thread you can easily see the reality of the situation. You have spike lee, someone who's been in the film game for decades and cats are in here saying the money would go to Knicks tickets.

Unfortunately blacks don't economically support other blacks the way we should. Considering how much the dudes on here complain and shyt on Tyler Perry for his fukked up image of black people, how many of them do you think will give a red cent to support another film maker?

shyt nikkas will bootleg the shyt instead of buying it for 19.99.
